AEW in danger of not being renewed by TNT/TBS. We had a good run boys.

Apparently Sean Ross Sapp is saying Punk is the one starting rumours about WBD dropping AEW and going with WWE

Lmao I'll believe it when I see it

Whether it happens or not, TK should be worried. Their ratings have been less than stellar for a long time now. There's only so much that the network will tolerate.

I hope it doesn't come to that. Add much as AEW is a dumpster fire, if that goes there's nothing left for me (I literally can't watch WWE). Hopefully he has enough goodwill banked that they hold their rights. He could always throw them a bone and cancel Collision or Rampage.

They're ratings are holding steady and are consistently high in the rankings. Dynamite last night got number 1 on cable and Collision last week got their best rating ever going up against a WWE PPV, which is something they've struggled with in the past. There's not been anything to indicate that WBD are unhappy with their performances in the ratings.

A quick Google tells me that Dynamite drew 845,000 this week and Collision got 455,000, while Raw pulled 1.466 million and Smackdown did 2.384 million. As I understand it, all of those numbers are fairly consistent for each brand, though wwe got a boost thanks to Punk's return.

If I were a network exec and I had to choose which company to sign, it's a no brainer.

I don't think you understand. WWE and AEW are not going to be given the same amount of money, in fact not even close.

I'm sure AEW would be given a miniscule portion of what WWE would be offered, but if imagine the network is looking hard at those numbers, assuming of this is even true at all.

The ratings expectations for when Dynamite first started was 400k a week. Them far exceeding that was why AEW's contract was extended so fast into the relationship.

No shit a company would pick WWE over AEW. WWE will also cost billions of dollars. Right now WWE is looking for a 5 year $2 billion deal just for RAW alone. A company gets all of AEW for 1/4 of that.

WBD literally works with AEW right now because AEW is cheaper than old sitcom rights. That 455k Collision gets is triple the ratings old movie re-runs were getting in the same time slot.

AEW gives television company's cheap original media that regularly wins the night on Wednesdays. AEW is a no brainer to have for a company.

AEW won the demo again last night. #1 show on cable on Wednesday. Demo brings in ad revenue. I'm pretty sure WBD is more than likely very happy to have the #1 show on all of cable on Wednesday nights.

I hope you're all right on this. I dump on AEW a lot, but I like having it around. But if any of this is true at all I'd be worried if I were the boss.

Even if AEW loses WBD, there's other suitors.

Paramount Network is a big one that may be in the mix. Paramount puts everything on their Paramount+ app as well and there's the possibility of CBS specials.

I'm on the other side of the world, so I see all of this on streaming (delay). I can cut out large swathes of the show and watch it on double speed if need be. Think I'm just going to skip all the promos going forward because this Jericho/Omega one is horrific and if Jericho has gotten this bad on the stick, I can't imagine what else is going on. Not sure I want to know.
IMO, Jericho isnt normally as bad as he was last night, but he has this thing where like every six months he decides to cut a 2001 Jericho promo, but it ain't 2001 anymore and that type of "Benoit on a boat, Benoit on a goat" comedy doesnt work anymore. That Big Billy Starkz line was brutal, and then him trying to get the crowd to chant it was cringey as fuck.

I don't know if it was during a commercial break or not, but Toni Storm doing a line read for Excalibut and saying "it's Stiiiing!" had me rolling. She's the best.
