Here is my crazy hot take on who is the devil, and about the only way it will actually have a decent pay off. The devil's goons are all people from MJF's past. FTR, Wardlow, Etc.... People he treated shitty. Throw in Jericho because he has to be in everything.

The big reveal comes and the music hits.

"Wrestling has more than one royal family"

Cody fricken Rhodes. On loan from the "E."

Get out the check book, Snowman.

Why don’t the pictures work yet? Sometimes they work if you quote it but only work in your quote.

See? But when I’m writing g the quote I see it

I don't get the point of planning the tournament so that you get early eliminations. Briscoe still has two matches to go, yet mathematically he has no chance of winning. Takes all the tension out.

Adds realism to the product.

New Japan would have 10 man 9 match blocks in the G1 and have people eliminated like 4 matches in. Not everyone gets to be a winner.

If guys got 50/50 booking the entire tournament the shit would seem fake as fuck and boring.

Now the guys who are eliminated can still fight for pride and play spoiler.

It's good booking and I'm glad Tony Khan doesn't do some "everybody's a winner!" shit.

If everyone had the same record and was still mathematically in it, people would complain about that too.

There's literally a massive issue right now with people too stupid to read their point chart. Imagine having Excaliber have to explain mathematical tie breakers and how each guy can still win or be eliminated 4 matches in to a 5 match round robin tournament when they all have the same record.

Motherfuckers would be in here crying about how they're pushing away the casuals and "only the hardcores can understand" <Lmaoo>

Mind you, the same people that are confused by this are also led to believe that Seth Rollins or Finn Balor are messaging them for money through Twitter or Facebook.

I get what you're saying, but it's be more exciting viewing if the eliminations were held off. Having someone, especially someone like Briscoe who they should be pushing harder anyway, get run out of town so fast when he still has matches on the docket deflates them. Stretching it out keeps the excitement going and interest high.

And it's even worse when Moxley and Swerve run through the competition, since Moxley has been perennially pushed and Swerve is currently in the spotlight anyway. This tournament is a chance to build up a couple of people beyond the mid card.

Briscoe's story up to this point is that he can't win important singles matches on his own without his brother there. When he wrestled Samoa Joe for the ROH TV Title a few months back they even had a spot where he tried to crawl to the corner and reach for a tag shortly before he lost.

I think they're holding off on Briscoe until he can win one big spotlight match to finish his story. I don't think a tournament would've been a great place for that, but this tournament has been great to showcase Briscoe can go. He looks like a million bucks in the ring and the audience sees that now. Him and Jay Lethal, who have history together, wrestling a match for pride for their first win will be good shit as well.

People should also remember that Mark Briscoe had 4 singles matches and two tag matches on AEW TV before his injury and he disappeared for months.

He's wrestled as much on AEW TV in the last month than he did before his injury.

The guy is essentially brand new to the company, he can simmer for awhile, they don't have to push him to the moon immediately.

That shit was heartbreaking. Not often a wrestling match generates real emotion, but that hit hard.

He does look amazing in action. Lethal, too. Both of them deserve better than they're getting. But I think it's a mistake to showcase that only in matches they lose. Wins build momentum, and without momentum you have a short half life as a rassler. Hopefully they can get some before this is over.

Briscoe has had 12 matches in AEW, total, up to this point. That momentum can happen at any time. This tournament isn't burying him or anything.

People were mad about Kenosuke Takeshita losing matches last year every week. All the guy did was put on a black coat and he was instantly believable as a final boss who can beat Kenny Omega on PPV and nobody questioned it because he's talented and showed his talent previously.

Briscoe has shown his talent and he'll get a win streak after the tournament and probably win the ROH World Title in a few months to finish his story and everyone will rejoice. This tournament hasn't set him back in the least.
