Media Adesanya meets Goggins

It sounds like you’re a grown man that doesn’t care too much about what other people say or do.. Oh wait, that’s not it. You sound butthurt! Why, though? He’s doing his thing, telling people that they can change the course of their lives if they want. He doesn’t expect you to give shit. He’s got a good story.

So why does it sting?
Pretty much this.

If you hate a man like Goggins, you're a miserable loser.

I didn't watch but I pretty much was introduced to Goggins on the Rogan podcast many years ago when i still listened.

I am out of the loop, why is he hated now?

He's a self confessed nut case, his ability to push his body into breaking, putting his heart at risk, mangling his feet etc.,

He makes lesser men feel insecure, I think it's as simple as that.

Hes made an absolute fuck ton of money scamming people. Genius self marketer for someone who literally just exercises.

😄 I agree with this and yet also think the try-hard haters of him are far worse. I still enjoy his content from time to time when the mood is right, including being a 40 year old trying to reclaim my glory years as the young sarcastic edgelord mentioned in this thread.

But yes when I first came across him I thought there would be more to his story, like some other accomplishment he had that he worked his ass off for as part of the inspirational story of turning his life around.

Most of these types of figures have some kind of secondary claim like that, for example Andy Elliot being the ultimate car salesman. It was super weird to realize Goggins just exercises and that's it (though obviously he's built a huge successful business off of that).

Yeah Goggins didnt even overcome some great trauma or anything. His big thing was that he went from 300lbs to SEAL. Not 300lbs fat as fuck after completely giving up on life, but 300lbs of muscle & fat bloat from bodybuilding. Like ok dude. Its not nothing but also not the redemption story he makes it out to be.

Then everyone says "but he was a Navy SEAL". Until you realize thats the same as thinking all blackbelts are the same. By all accounts Goggins was the absolute bottom of the barrel in the SEAL community. The best of the best SEALs dont have a fraction of his wealth and notoriety.

Goggins an extraordinary endurance athlete. Pushed himself to limits. While amazing and sort of entertaining inspirational not so practical aside from The mental toughness aspect.

Maybe he can train him the same way he did Tony Ferguson

TRT & tendonitis
Stay fucking hard!
Just relax!

Stay fucking hard!

He grew up in a household where his father physically and mentally abused him, his brother and his mother. His father had him and the rest of them slave working in a bowling alley all nights and then sent him to school where he obviously had zero energy for studying and did terribly because of it.

Faced racism growing up, faced it even more when his mom and him fled from his dad to live with her parents in a place where KKK happened to have a strong presence. Kids at school spray painted N-ER on his car and the principal just shrugged his shoulders.

Then a great man entered his and his moms life, a stepdad that actually cared for him and treated his mom nice. A few years later that guy was murdered in the driveway.

The guy went through some shit and became something and is inspiring others who have fucked up life's.

He's a self confessed nut case, his ability to push his body into breaking, putting his heart at risk, mangling his feet etc., it's awesome to watch and to be inspired by, but I would think most everyone including pro athletes know that it isn't a recipe for success in sport, it's an amazing story about a fat slob who got his life together in a very difficult way despite a shitty childhood and feeling lost in life.

If he's decided he needs to coach, ya i get the hate, his method is just madness, but as a stand alone human he seems spectacular from a distance.

When I heard him he just talked about his struggle and overcoming it. Has he decided to talk politics or something now that has people so divided on him?

No, people just got tired of the douche bag attitude.

No, that's not his big thing. His big thing is overcoming your mind, because that is the biggest obstacle. People think the world fucks them, and it does, but then they use that to fuck themselves one hundred times over in their mind and cripple themselves. What was supposed to work for them, their own mind, they turn it against themselves. Read a book, "Can't hurt me" by David Goggins would be a good place to start.

What are "all accounts" exactly? A bunch of Navy Seals who were never on any operations with him? How about you go on Wikipedia and look at the "Awards and Decorations" tab.

What do other Navy Seals not knowing how to make a dollar have anything to do with Goggins? Is being a broke bum as a Navy Seal some sort of virtue?

Next time try rubbing two braincells together, reading a book, perhaps don't form so many opinions when you know so little.

I'm sure it's excruciating and there are benefits, despite the nauseating gimmickry of it, but I still feel like it's time that could be better spent on technique or tactics.
