I agree, unfortunately her success in film was based on her being more average looking so hollywood wasnt really interested in her new look.

He definitely doesn't have to directly give them money for sex. But they get money by being with him, so in that sense, they're paid for. They do this by A) getting tons of publicity, that puts there name out there and gives them all kinds of opportunities they would never have had. And B) They are directly benefitting from his huge bank account by staying in his mansions, dining at the finest restaurants, traveling on yachts and private jets, etc. You know how much all that would cost if they had to pay for it on thier own? A a hell of a lot more than they have.

That shot is actually the closest I'v seen him look to his 80's self.

Honestly I kind of suspect this might have helped his career a bit, rather than just a faded 80's star his post boxing/surgery look meant he could get a lot of thug/heavy roles like The Wrestler.

I think his acting performance simply overcame his jarring appearance in The Wrestler. After that Travolta / Cage-ish rebirth, he hung on for a few years in the same way with a comeback but I don't think the strange look helped him at all.

If he had just kept working out and aged mostly naturally, I think there would be all kinds of roles out there for him if he were interested and able to pick good projects from bad ones.
