Ace as a kid and younger fella, but Austin by far now. The Ace movies are more manic compared to Austin, and I tend not to prefer it as I get older.

Interestingly both guys were born in Canada, became traitors everything it means to be Canadian, lost all of their comedic mojo so to speak once they went political and have become a complete joke compared to their younger selves.

Carrey boycotts his own movie because he sudden became an anti gun nutjob, but had no problem cashing checks. (can't blame him too much he did have a wrongful death suit to cover)

Myers just cashed a big cheque simping for Mark Carney, who will destroy our country.

Want to know what all 3 of these Canadians have in common ? Undeniable links to Jeffrey Epstein.

Jim and Mike are not Ace and Austin. Nobody here cares what they did irl. Just talking about two slapstick bangers, man.

Fair enough, but neither will ever reach those heights again because of what I outlined. Which is a shame because yes those are possibly the two best comedies from the 90s.

You will get no argument from me on that one.

It's hilarious how Mike Meyers did the whole 'elbows up, proud Canadian' thing when the second he got some money, he immediately moved to America.

Ace Ventura easily for me IMO. Austin Powers was losing steam by the end of the 2nd movie and the 3rd movie proved it.

Eh, I don't think that's true. I remember summer of '99 quite vividly and the second Austin Powers film was bigger than the first. The inclusion of Fat Bastard and especially Mini Me; ultimately became huge parts of pop culture for the next few years.

But things did fall off after the third film came out. That I agree with.

Austin Powers 2 definitely blew up, I'm not disputing that, but near the end of the movie after they are leaving the moon, it seems like the director is really in a hurry to end it all. Never really felt like either Ace Ventura movie had a rushed feeling to it. I like the Austin Powers movies for the most part but in comparison to the Ace Ventura movies? I have my winner.

I can't think of anyone who has done better. LOL, most comedians careers don't stack up to that year for Carrey.

The only guy I can think of who came close didn't really come close because he didn't do it in a calendar year. Because when I think of comedic hot streaks 2000's Will Ferrell always immediately springs to mind. He was coming right off putting up tons of all-time classic sketches for SNL in the late 90's up until he left in 2002, but he did:
  • Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
  • Zoolander (2001)
  • Old School (2003)
  • Elf (2003)
  • Anchorman (2004)
  • Starsky & Hutch (2004)
  • Wedding Crashers (2005)
  • The Producers (2005)
  • Talladega Nights (2006)
  • Stranger than Fiction (2006) ***not really a comedy, IMO, but a really cool movie***
  • Step Brothers (2008)
  • The Other Guys (2010)

Coincidentally, per this thread, he also had roles in two of the Austin Powers movies.

lol all that money enabled Carrey to transform himself into a modern day philosopher of sorts I guess.
zzzzzzzzzz

Both legendary characters and movies. Lots of gut busting laughs on first viewings when released. Probably taking Ace Ventura gun to the head.

Poll
Again shits the
bed in this Jim Carrey masterpiece.
