thats cool, what grades are you teaching? Im a comp teacher now, so my job is a little less stressful, but having a 1yr old son takes up most of my time.
Also do you guys have sponsors, or funding these trips yourselves? What rank are ya'll..I'm just a blue but see they have blue belt divisions. I believe theres an ADCC event in Dallas coming up, If i can make weight I might do it.
I'll be able to teach 5-12, math or special ed.
Sponsors, I wish. I'm fortunate enough to be getting money from the millitary for school, so what I have left over goes to BJJ. So I guess you could say they're a sponsor. :icon_chee
I am able to get really good deals on some of the gear and I help teach classes, so my tuition and privates are a little bit cheaper than the norm at my school. But everything adds up quick.
I was bored back in August so i put together a thing to see how much money I spent on tournaments, gear, travel, hotel, and training money. Then I also figured out my overall record and places. For the year from AUG 09- AUG10, I spent about $4500, had a 41-18 record with about 15 first places, and had approxiamtely 950 hours of time spent training and competing.
Pretty much my life consisted of College and BJJ.
I'm a purple belt and I've still got a long ways to go before the next level. I spend this part of the year learning new techniques, cleaning up the techniques I know, and building up th ecardio. Competition picks up at the beignning of the year and i have plans to compete in about 1 tournement a month, from January to June.
Hopefully this year I can include Abu Dhabis in the mix. I came really close last year, but now's the point where one little mistake can cost you. Last year, it did.
