Abraham vs. Ward, who wins?

Ward is going to embarrass him. Abraham hasn't fought anyone with the speed and footwork that Ward has. Abraham is going to dig himself into a hole early with his inactivity. With AA's high guard he's hard to hit if you come straight at him. You have to use angles, Ward won't have a hard time getting behind his elbows. When he does that Abraham's hands will get low and he's going to get tagged up. This will be a bad fight for AA.

I couldn't have said it better!

perhaps, if ward somehow manages to avoid aa's power. if some those hooks land though: game over ward.

I wand AA to win in my heart but my head screams "YOU ARE A FUCK!NG IDIOT WARD WILL SMOKE HIM"

Ward is a safety first fighter. If you look at the way he handled the Kessler fight he controlled the fight by controlling distance. Since he's quick on his feet and with his hands he can spring forward, get off his combo and pivot out or tie up. Abraham is the shortest one in the tourney so I see him as being at even more of a disadvantage than Kessler. Abraham is going to have a hard time landing anything.

The problem with Kessler is he only came with a plan A. I think Abraham is similar in that he only has one plan of attack. It's going to be interesting to see if he can adapt.

At least AA will block the headbutts with his peek-a-boo. One punch is all aa needs. He is way mentally tougher than Kessler.

I really wonder what the responses to this thread would have been a weel before the ward/kessler fight. I think people greatly underestimated the style mismatch in ward/kessler, and now I think people are just as greatly underestimating how that style mismatch created the results of the that fight. AA/ward is a totally different fight. People are definitely now underestimating AA.

what makes you think AA won't change the game plan for Ward? He's an opportunistic fighter. I've never seen a more patient boxer than him. That tends to throw his opponents off.

It's such an interesting fight

Abraham fights the same way each time out. He hides behind the peek a boo, he is inactive, then he bursts with power punches looking for damage. He isnt the most multi dimensional fighter. This suggestion is a bit silly, really.

Bute should get first dibs on the winner of this tournament.

Agreed, although I have to say being on the outside looking in is a big advantage for Bute. All of the Super Six fighters are being pitted against eachother in difficult style match ups against the stiffest competition, leaving many of them "exposed" at some point in the eyes of the boxing public. Bute gets to kick back at this point and fight guys like Allan Green or Sakio Bika, making it easier for him to protect his image as an elite fighter.
