Just finished the class today, now I gotta just go apply and I should have it in a few weeks.

Then I can concealed carry in 37 states.

Good reminder I need to renew mine. We no longer need them in my state, but I prefer to have it in case of travel. It also makes buying new guns slightly faster.

Depends from country, area and obstacles why you need this. IMHO this depends from a lot of variables.
I in EU had get this not cos SD reason but cos I was shift manager where duties also were to collect cash from pub, 24/7 type store and hotel with saunas and there risky area and one part of duty was to handle cash for Inc service lads.....so SD wasn't reason. I didn't had used this and just had prolonged permit...

Awesome. What are you going to carry?

I've gotten out of the happy. Other than the grocery in the nice part of town, nearly everywhere I go it isn't permitted. So, I've been carrying pepper spray.

Fanny packs are great for concealed carry. Just sayin

It is more than just for fun.
For CCW you should have operative holster type stuff.
Definitely also remember that you should be able to defend yourself till some extent even if you will not have nor time nor distance to remowe this stuff from op holster.
Cos before this you might not have legal reasons to threat someone with handgun and then ....vuala.. stuff is going ON.

I’m so jealous of you Americans. I can’t even buy a handgun here in Canada now and if I had have even before the freeze, I would have had to call the RCMP and fill out paperwork just to transport it to an approved range.

I have a ton of shotguns and rifles but very limited experience with a handgun. I’d love to carry in the woods but we can’t..

PM with 9*18 FMJ ammo, OP holster. Old stuff ofc, cos initially I had trained with this ... and this is usable stuff to hit person with base too without shooting. All stuff I need is close range. Only IF.
Some lawmakers are idiotic and will not allow expanding type ammo for CCW, only FMJ.
While I don't carry often in reality. Usually no.
I had also S&W .... while with long barrel and some other revolvers....

In 2021, Texas enacted dangerous 'permitless carry' legislation that, effective September 1, 2021, generally authorizes people to carry concealed or holstered handguns in most public spaces without any license, safety training, or background check required, as long as they are at least 21 years old and not prohibited .

God bless this beautiful state

Why?

Just curious..

Just so I can protect my family. As a younger man I always felt like I could handle shit if needed. I'm definitely not a badass but as a healthy young man with a smidge of martial arts training I always felt like I could handle a drunk idiot or a crazy homeless meth-head if needed.

But as I'm getting older, the injuries are piling up. For instance, my shoulder is so fucked right now I couldn't throw a decent left if my life depended on it. And grappling with one arm ain't so great either.

Suddenly I don't like my chances against a random attacker.

Plus it feels like crime is getting worse. The area where I used to live was horrible. They straight up had machete attacks and stuff you only see in third world countries. Not to mention the shootings.

So basically, I was getting less dangerous with age and criminals were getting more dangerous. So I wanted to carry a gun.

Doesn't matter if it's permitted. You should still carry. Just don't carry anywhere that's illegal, like a federal building.

But a mall or other place where they have signs, it's not illegal. It's just their policy. If you get caught the worst that will happen is they kick you out. Big deal.

What are you gonna carry?

p365.

Still trying to get used to it though. So far it's very uncomfortable.

Depends on the state and town. Where I am a lot of the time, signs carry the weight of law. It is an actual crime to ignore them

I used to think about going down all the time. I have a buddy on a work visa who roams around as a millwright servicing equipment for a Canadian company in the oil and gas industry and I’ve came close a few times. I came closest when we elected a government that declared in day 1 they were phasing out oil. My backup plan was to go work with him but I ended up getting the job I wanted at the time.

If it wasn’t for the business I started here, family and the life I have now, I would absolutely. I’ve travelled through the west a lot and I would love to have a nice acreage in ND/MT/WY. It’s not the guns or politics for me, the cost of things and tax/BS just get to me up here.

I take it you shot it some by now? Enough to express an overall opinion one way or another?

Score a good carry holster yet?

Yes, I got a holster from a company called Bra Dec. They're not super well-known but everyone who's gotten one said they're just as good as the top brands, but they're super cheap. I think mine was less than 40 bucks, while the well-known brands can be over $150 now. My only point of comparison is the shitty sig holster that they included for free with my gun, and the bra dec is way better than that.

And yes I've shot it a bunch. Here are my conclusions:

1. The p365 is good enough for what I wanted. Something easy to carry that shoots good enough up to 30 feet.

2. Beyond 30 feet my accuracy suffers quite a bit. At first I thought it was a skill issue but yesterday I rented a shield plus and that shot better. It kinda made me regret buying the p365.

3. The p365 has more recoil. I suspect because it's smaller and lighter and the handle is too narrow. I'm going to try to rectify the handle issue by getting a Wilson combat grip, which is a little wider.

I still like the p365 because it's modular, so anything I don't like will be easy to change. And it's the easiest gun to conceal. But the shield undeniably shoots better.

When I was in the class, I was frustrated because everyone's accuracy was better than mine. If I had the shield I would've done better.

If I had to do it over again I think I'd go with the shield plus.

But then again, who cares if they shoot better than me? It's just my ego. They were all using full size guns. My goal was to be accurate at 30 feet or less with the tiniest gun possible that can carry 12 rounds, and the p365 achieves that goal.

Nice. The p365 is a nice carry. I like my hellcat and shield+ a bit more, but all three are supreme pistols for the job.

Do yourself a favor and get a decent gun belt if you’re going to cc. They really help. No need for a super pricey one either. My Kore does great and keeps it nice and close and helps with printing.

Fl too. Beautiful states. Now if we could also get open carry, but I’ll take what we can get.
