Media Aaron Pico looking fast AF, I still believe

Still believe he can make it to UFC and be a problem just needs to use his wrestling and avoid fire fights.

He certainly has all the talent and physical attributes to be great… but that chin cracked way too early in his career… and in a division with no shortage of heavy hitters, at least in the UFC, idk.. I have hope..

I mean did you watch his last two fights. The excitement is back I feel
I'd suggest otherwise, if only because of the level of those opponents. Beating Higo the way he did was impressive, beating Aiden Lee whilst ragdolling him is not bad either, but also nothing to get too excited about.

If he manages to get over the hump and beat the next legit guy he fights in a smart way, then I'll hop on.

In his last bout he used way more of his wrestling and I think he looked amazing. Super smooth transitions, constant sub attempts, brutal ground and pound, great cardio.

Will it hold up against the higher skill opponents, we shall see, but at least he is going away from his brawler style

I agree, I think a Daniel Weichel or Emmanuel Sanchez will be a good test. Both don't have heavy hands but they are crafty vets

To all the people who say you “can’t teach chin”, yes but you can teach avoiding getting hit lol. Those shots were bombs.

Nick Dick KO’d Lawler early, everyone completely wrote him off. Early KO’s are not always indicator of how you will turn out, I think Pico still has a great shot of living up to his hype.

He still has the capabilities to ascend to the top of the rankings i'd say. Obviously no guarantee. But anyone pointing to his chin as the problem, of course your chin will look bad if you over expose it and eat full shots clean. Look at arlovski. Back in the day when he'd get ultra aggressive he would get clipped and put down. Now in his advanced age he fights smart, and dosen't over commit and has been taking shots just fine from Heavyweights. If pico does the same thing and learns to keep his chin protected and tucked so it's only glancing shots, or shots at the very end of the reach so they're not landing with full steam he probably be just fine. He was just coming out with way too much confidence and steam in his early career and more experienced guys were able to find an opening with the over exposing. On top of that he's a stud wrestler. Which is a way to protect your chin even further against dangerous strikers by engaging grappling.

He's been hurt by glancing shots. Other fighters can eat bombs regardless. Arlovski isn't known for his chin, in the later part of his career he just avoids striking exchanges and doesn't get hit cleanly because he's back peddling away. His chin will always be a weakness in his game and he'll have to build a style around it.

Other fighters build styles that limit striking exchanges, so he can do something similar. Since he's training at Jackson's he'll have a point fighting style and shoot in for takedowns once there's too much striking going on. He's at the right camp for a playing it safe style.

Pico is kill or be killed, doesn't make for long career but he must see tv when he scraps.

He’s over committing on the lead hook. He’s gonna find himself off balance getting KTFO again. Huge talent, but very reckless with his approach. I remember when he was very young training boxing. He’s definitely regressed in that aspect hopefully he’s able to put everything together one day.

Pico is such an odd case. On paper he seems like he has all the tools to be a nightmare for anyone but he just kept finding ways to lose.
