Complete freedom of speech doesn't exist anywhere that I'm aware of.
It's illegal to shout "fire" in a crowded theatre or "I've got a bomb!" on a plane. The reason is that people might get hurt. It's generally illegal to cause people to get hurt either deliberately or through reckless actions - including what you say. Do you think it's OK to do either of these things then?
It's also illegal to set up a group where you preach that the listeners should hate and then go out and kill certain people - e.g. Islamic fundamentalist preachers convincing people to blow themselves up or race/gay hate groups setting off bombs. Are you saying that we should allow this to happen?
How about conspiracy to commit murder where one guy plans it and another carries it out. Is it only the trigger-man who is guilty since the other guy was just "exercising his freedom of speech"?
The law recognises that people can be influenced into doing things that hurt others. If this girl had convinced a mentally ill guy to murder your mother, would you still be thinking "Oh well, he pulled trigger, she had nothing to do with it?". The difference here is that she pushed him not to hurt someone else, but himself instead. She still used her verbal influence to cause harm.
I was on the fence about this but this really puts it into perspective. I'm convinced she needs to do time.
