A the truth more important than respecting people’s feelings?

There's basically no situation where speaking 100% truth is appropriate. I have an "evil" aunt and uncle in my family, they talk shit about other family members but they don't know anything about them so they're wildly off in their assumptions.
 
I feel like it's important to tell the truth, but you don't necessarily have to blurt out everything that's true.
 
I just watched the movie Bohemian Rhapsody and I thought that serve as a good example here. The movie took a bunch of creative licensing with Freddie's life, focused a lot of time on the best of times (Live Aid concert was the highlight) and skip over a lot of the dark stuff but didn't fully go full on lying as if he was straight and didn't die of aids.

I’m guilty of being too honest at times but in the end, whether they want to hear it, it’s better for them then blowing smoke up their ass. Why do you think so many millennials are ill equipped to handle life as adults?
