Just nightmare on Elm street for me thanks (although Dream warriors was bearable). I never liked the Friday the 13th movies.

admittedly ive not watched all these films, friday the 13th is okay, but it didn't inspire me to watch another 20 films in the franchise. ive seen part 2 and freddy vs jason. hardly even remember part two tbh, except for jason's sack head.

as for nightmare on elm street i loved the first one, and do intend on watching some more. i watched new nightmare and freddy's dead last year because i had them on vhs (found at a yard sale). freddy's dead is fucking dogshit dude, god i was so pissed off watching it lol i hated everybody in that god awful film. new nightmare was a good horror film tho imo.

and on the subject of freddy vs jason, im a sucker for that one. its cheesy and fun, its so stupid but watching the final boss battle scene was fantastic. how can i hate???
Isn't that girl in your avatar in freddy vs Jason ?

I did a rewatch of all of the Friday the 13th movies and Freddy vs Jason, and now I have made my way into the Nightmare on elm street franchise.

Ranked: Friday the 13th

The original is for sure the "best" movie in the franchise but my 2 favourites are Final Chapter and Part 3. The original has the best ending in the franchise easily but the kill scenes are all the same, bad & comical. Although I did like how Kevin Bacon dies. Part 3 Is where Jason gets his iconic mask and then part 4 is with Cory Feldman. I still haven't seen the Friday the 13th remake.

Ranked: A Nightmare On Elm Street

The first 15 mins of Nightmare 84 is probably my pick for best opening scene to a horror movie. I never been the biggest fan of how Freddy is defeated and I think Heather was a bad actress but she does way better in Dream Warriors. Theres also the debut of Patricia Arquette who is underrated/overlooked when it comes to female leads in horror. Wes Cravens New Nightmare was a movie that terrified young me back in the mid 90s. These 3 will always be the best in the Nightmare franchise, the Heather Langenkamp trilogy.

From the poll my 5 favourite would be

1. Dream Warriors
2. Nightmare 84
3. Freddy vs Jason
4. Wes cravens new Nightmare
5. Part 3
As a huge fan of both series, I prefer Nightmare 1 and 3 to any movie in either series. Dream Warriors was close to a perfect sequel to 1. The next best in that series is Wes Craven's new nightmare. After that its pretty patchy. Part 2 was a huge downgrade. Part 4 started strong for 20 minutes and then dove into crap. 5 and 6 were awful and the remake was awful.

Rank:
1.A Nightmare on elm street
2.Dream Warriors
3. Wes Cravens New Nightmare
4. The Dream Master
5. Freddy's Revenge
6. The Dream Child
7. The final Nightmare
8. The Nightmare on elm street remake

I am one of those folks who does not actually enjoy Friday the 13th(The original) as much as the sequels because Jason is not in it. I thought 2 was a far superior movie. I enjoy 3, and 4 is the pinnacle of that series. 5 was a big step down, but still was ok. 6 was comic genius. I enjoyed 7 for the Carrie vs Jason showdown. 8 was shit, but had some funny moments. Should be called Jason takes the Cruise ship though. 9 was a body snatcher crapfest yet I was still entertained. Jason X was comic again, but not as comic as it could have been LOL.

The f13th remake was probably the best of the remakes coming out at that time. It combined 1 through 4 very well.
Some of the Fan made films are actually better than movies in the series. And some of the actors return like Thom Matthews( Tommy Jarvis from part 6) and Adrienne King are separate full Length fans films.

1. The Final Chapter
2. Part 2
3. Jason Lives
4. Part 3
5. New Blood
6. 2009 Remake
6.5 .....Several fan movies with budgets
7. Friday the 13th
8. New Beginning
9. Jason goes to hell
10. Jason X
11. Jason Taked Manhattan

Between that big gap, the fan movies Never hike alone, never Hike in the snow, and never Hike alone 2 is probably the best. Some may prefer Vengeance and Vengeance Bloodlines. Both these film series have Tommy Jarvis and are direct Sequels to 6

Did not particularly care for Jason Rising with Adrienne king or Roseblood with Tina the telepath from f13th part 7 and Creighton Duke LOL

haven't watched the others yet. there are like 15 fan films and I focused on the ones where actors and actresses returned from their respective films lol

My top 5 rank?

#1 Nightmare on Elm street
#2 Dream Warriors
#3 F13th The Final Chapter
#4 F13th Part 2
#5 F13th Part 6 Jason Lives

Never hike alone was a pleasent surprise that got me into watching the fans films.

Yeah I for sure agree that Freddy 1 & 3 are the 2 best movies in the poll. The Tina superpowers in Part 7 is so over the top and hilarious is why I enjoy it. Tina is also the hottest lead actress in the Friday franchise with Chris in part 3 being second and part 3 having the hottest chicks overall. I see you liked the 2009 remake which I have not seen yet, I will try to check that out sometime today.

Friday the 13th was the best one in that franchise despite them creating Jason a Myers like character who they got the idea from , Mrs Voorhees is scarier I’d like to see a prequel actually if they could get a creepy lady , Jason to me is like action horror after so many the plots just thing out where you just wait to see a fresh kill no substance in most of those .

Nightmare On Elm Street 2 for me was the superior of the franchise,it’s the most dark Freddy and awkward it’s like watching a real nightmare it puts you in the film and we can all relate to really bad gym teachers we wanted to harm at some point many things in that movie reflect real life it’s also the first one he physically shows himself and makes his entrance at that party where he slashes multiple people to shreds .

People are more into action sci horror but I put scary horror as top criteria since it’s actually horror genre .

Nightmare 2

Nightmare 1

Friday 13th original

Freddy vs Jason ( though it is sci fi horror this just isn’t a scary movie it’s a fun movie for fans but well done )

Friday 13th remake

For me .

Fucking lol......have some pent up trauma do ya?

2 Was campy and homoerotic...in fact,, It was actually voted the #1 unintentionally gay movie of all time on a majority of sites

Dream Warriors is goat. I loved the booby traps as a kid. I still want to try filling a lightbulb with gunpowder
Dream Warriors

These guys get it. Dream Warriors is the GOAT Nightmare on Elm Street. Best death scenes and I thought they were the most creative as well. Coming through the tv, playing on the kid's attraction to that one nurse, making his glove actual needles like drugs. Not to mention that was probably the most star studded Elm Street. An Arquette, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Lawrence Fishburne and John Saxon all in the same film.

Only really liked the first three F13s. Could do without the rest of them.

Never really liked Nightmare on Elm St. movies.

Mike needs to visit that Camp and tax Jason for running his gimmick

My favorite Friday the 13th's in tiers:

-Part 1
-Part 2
-Part 6, Jason Goes to Hell (I know I'm the odd one out here).
-Parts 3, 5, 8.
-Part 4.
-Part 7.
-Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason.
-The remake.

Part 4 never really did it for me, it is well shot, it has some great scenes, I like Tommy Doyle's family and the Rob character, and the interactions between Crispin Glover and the Ted character, but it feels a bit disjointed to me. For instance you have that great opening at the camp where the police and medic team are at the barn from part 3 with the helicopter overhead, then someone wheeling a body through the hospital with a crying family, but then the mood shifts with the goofy horny Axel character. Then you have the Doyle family interactions which are all great, but then that's intercut with all the teens and there are way too many of them and most of them are bland underdeveloped characters because they needed a higher body count and they take up way too much of the runtime, they should have mainly been background characters to flavor the main Doyle family story and I would have cut it down to four or five teens at most. Then you also have Jason not even stalking his victims like the previous three films and just popping out of nowhere to jump scare kill people. To me it's kind of like Halloween 5 or ANOES 5 where they could have made a good serious minded focused film, the bones are there in the finished films, but either the director or producers felt themselves or felt like fans wanted certain bullshit so they delivered that.
I have a certain annoyance with films that feel disjointed or that had a lot of potential but squandered it. I'm more forgiving of something a bit campy like parts 3 or 5 that essentially revel in the campy elements and they are seamlessly blended in the existing films.

My favorite ANOES films in tiers.

-Part 1
-New Nightmare.
-Part 3.
-Part 2.
-Part 5.
-Part 4
-Freddy's Dead.
-The remake.

I have no idea why part 4 has gotten so much love over the years, it has excellent practical effects, but it's also the definitive start of wise cracking standup comedian Freddy.

If I had to pick a favorite five the definites would be Friday the 13th's 1 and 2, the original A Nightmare on Elm Street and A New Nightmare, with the 5th option being either Friday the 13th part 6, Jason Goes to Hell, or A Nightmare on Elm Street part 3.

You didn't like IV, the final chapter? That's almost always in everyone's top 3 f13th all time

Is that the one with Corey Feldman? If so, I do remember liking that one too.

Friday part 5 was actually a lot of up until the end, which was down right retarded. I liked the kid and the black dude from return of the living dead, the kid did a good acting and the black dude just made me lol a lot, specifically when hes in the porter potty taking a dump.

Jason vs Freddy is a bad movie I agree but it was the first Freddy movie I saw at the theater and I saw it with my older brother, so its a bit nostalgic for me. I also think the lead actress who resembles Brittany Murphy was excellent. Even Kelly Rowland was decent but I couldn't stand the rest of the cast. I did like the ending, it was satisfying for both fans of the franchises.
The main chick was hot. But have you seen her at conventions (within the last few years)?
<{1-17}>

She's definitely on something. It was shocking to see and honestly pretty disappointing. I remember her on Dawson's Creek and I loved that show, so I have some nostalgia for her too.

Depends. I agree 3 almost as good as the original and is near a perfect sequel, but I prefer the horror original tone and originality.

Zsa zsa Gabor was in it for a 20 second cameo and fishburne was basically an extra with lines for 2 minutes of the film lol. I'll take Johnny Depp for most of the movie over Arquette lol

2 has some original ideas and still the dark sinister Freddy horror, but was so campy, disjointed and homoerotic that it deflated

3 had the perfect balance of Freddy being funny & not over the top silly with the horror which to me is the perfect balance for his character. Johnny Depp to me was nothing special in 84, hes just a mega movie star and that was his first role where as Arquette is one of the best female performances in the Nightmare series (to me)

Tina in the first 15 mins of 84 is better than anything Heather did in the entire franchise.

And I agree #2 is ruined with the homo vibes. I liked the opening, the scene where hes at his friends room and Freddy kills him, and the backyard party scene but thats really it. I still think its better than 5 & 6 but thats not saying much.

Yeah she definitely has gotten into or still using some hardcore drugs. Vera in Part 3 is the hottest Friday the 13th girl imo shes just not the main girl.
