He is clearly agitated and he walks away from everyone and goes outside.
At that point the only thing anyone had to do was let him leave and not follow him and continue to provoke him and the situation would have been over.

If you provoke an angry man who says "I'll knock your fat ass the fuck out" and respond "let's see you do it" and charge at him...
That's a fair fight and I would argue self defense at that point.
