A log by MIDMO

I love being stronger than more jacked dudes at the gym. Especially when I was 155, I'd get some WTF looks.

The only time I get those WTF looks are when I do DB cleans and Deads(as pitiful as my dead is). I like the guys who come up to me who almost bench what I deadlift and look me straight in the face and say "dude I couldn't do that". But as far as getting noticed in the gym I would perfer if the chicks up in the cardio area would start noticing and sending me obsence text messages that include photos I could post here.

The stupid part of the guy who was doing the deads was how my perception changed when he left the weight on the bar. I think before that I might have mentioned that some guy was doing deads in my gym(a rarity) but not gone on to describe the weight or his pitful efforts at it. But the simple act of not taking the weight off the bar and walking away made him a complete douche.

I didn't even know he was done til some one asked if I was using the rack. I said I wasn't there was some dude I didn't know that was but I didn't know where he went. Then I look around and seeing him doing curls with 20s using straps.

Oh well. Tommorrow Squats and dead assistance.

I saw the same thing in the gym the same day as you...a big young guy doing low rep DL sets with 225...made me feel like quite the stud. However, after he was done he helped me take the weight off and put the bar back up in the rack so I could do push-press, so at least he wasn't a douche in that respect.

And, don't you know that doing anything with straps automatically makes you look tougher/cooler?!?!?

Not a great day as I had hoped, but got some quality work in despite still feeling a little whipped from cleans. (note to self:give more than 1 day rest between alot of cleans and squats) The 10 rep deads sucked monkey balls but I got through them OK.

It felt like a marathon. Just feeding some volume to my dead lift on days I primarly squat.

In random gym moments today,

While I was doing my high rep deadlift sets(makes me tired just to type it even)between sets I was talking to some guys I normally lift around. They were benching and one a 190lber starts talking about high school records he held. He then looks at my bar and gets a pair of straps. I wasn't sure what he was doing. So he walks over wraps the straps says he's not sure he can do "it" any more then proceeds to knock out 5 hangcleans with 225.

Needless to say I was impressed. I didn't understand the straps for cleans but whatever. I forgot what he said he could do a couple years back but it was in the 250 range for a hang clean. This guy is one of the few I lift with that squats but never with anything over 225. I didn't know he had that kind of pop.

Just wanted to do something. Ended up with a easy +10lb, I would say I have 30 more in me if my form held together like it did today. Everything was tight and quick. Boxing in the AM

Nice clean! Is that a true power clean (off the floor), or a hang clean? Impressive either way!

Didn't have alot of time today, but squeezed in some easy bench work and some rounds as well. My feet weren't moving very well today and my coach was having none of playing on the outside, he was able to press in on me, but I was doing OK cutting corners inside and either getting out completely or working to his side.

I did laid a heavy knee to his chin which phased him. It sorta skipped off his chest and laided more flush than I'm comfortable with. We normally don't knee to the head when we're just screwing around.

Anythign I note as PC is from the floor, The few I marked HC were Power hang cleans. There were also some full cleans(floor) in there but I don't note them seperately. For the purpose of this log I try to keep it

PC-Powerclean from the floor
HC-Hanging power clean(not a full squat catch)
Clean(from the floor full squat catch)

I'm working towards 2 plates on my PC but I think it will take a while but it will happen.

What an asshole!

I think 225 is very doable and should not take too long if you consistantly work your technique.

You must be getting very close to 275 bench*, a maximum ceiling for any natural lifter, at least according to one poster from the heavyweights who trolled S/P.

Thanks MoM, thats the real reason I view this log. LOL.
