Was short time and I adjusted my working weights down a hair since I was tanked and this idea of upper/lower is still new and I don't know how I'll do with it. Did have a guy who way out presses me tell me how my bar speed is so much greater than his even at these weights. So that was postive.

Today was suppose to be warm up to some rack pulls and a heavy squat session. Friend I lift with was walking in at the same time I was and asked if I was doing deads today and I said yes a few. So after I got done with my warm up(the PCs) he joined me. I was only going to go to a single or two at 315 then go to the rack pulls. But he wanted to do 365 and when I saw the weight I had to hit it too.

Nice to have the monkey off my back on that weight. May have been the easiest fastest 365 I've ever pulled. He dropped out after that and I reset the weight for rack pulls. The +6" means it was 6" off the ground which is roughly a few inches below my knee. Easy singles at 405 and I moved on. My top end can handle 405 pretty darn easy. Must be slowing with that wieght coming off the floor. May have to go to deficits again.

Then I orginally was going to do some singles of BS at around 300 but the 275 felt off and high so I hit it a few times and moved on. Front Squats are begining to become comfortable for me. The BOR I wanted to do the other day but passed on since today would include deads. More weight or a higher reps is needed on this one. I needed to re-rack the weight and the clean from the floor was so easy I did 2 more. Hence the 3 PCs at the end.

May use this warm up(the PCs and early DLs) for my next attempt at 405. Its amazing what some sleep and a bunch of Stims can do for a work out.
 
In other news,

I dropped a 10lb plate on the top of my foot today in the exact same place I got elbow checked on a turning kick last weekend. Ouch.

I may be teaching kids wrestling shortly. Which will be a nice change of pace.

It also looks at the next stop on my JJ journey will be ATT. I talked to Josh and he continues to be cool about it, so all that is left is to get a price I can live with for how little I'll actually get to go. I think I can progress under their head instructor even on a limited basis, since his game is so dif than mine or josh's.

I know I picked it off the rack turned around hit a row machine with my shoulder and lost the plate which just happened to land on the exact spot that was already ouchy from a week prior. This is the exact same spot I broke and tore a nerve in about 3 years ago that hasn't been right since. It hasn't bruised up yet but its still achy.


In gym bad news the hot chick i mentioned before is not a college student but much younger

I saw that eposide and thought it was one of the funniest they had ever done.
 
She's on the border between legal and illegal. Which come to think of it is sort of fun isn't it.......


Other postive news one of the kids I've worked with over the past 3 years just finished third(2-1) in a tough 4A district to move on to State in wrestling. Which is incrediable considering that he didn't start wrestling til he was 15 when most kids around here start at 4 or 5. He's a great kid and I'm proud of him.
 
Other various gym news,

There will be no boxing this weekend as me and my coach can't find 2 hours free at the same time this weekend, may double up next weekend.


One of the truly "big" dudes at the gym decided to talk to me the other day. This guy was a former regional level bodybuilder and powerlifting into the early 90s. He's 10 years older than me and pulled around 800 when he was serious at a 240lb ish bodyweight. He still benches 4+ plates with ease. I only mention this because he never talks to me although we're in their at the same time alot.

It was the other day when I was doing dead/racks. I had gotten up to the 4 plates and was on my second single, after he looked at me and said "that looked easy". He went on to due some good natured mouthing about how he couldn't do it now and so forth. In the end he said he was still good for over 5 plates from the ground and he didn't see anything wrong with my form, having seen me off and on. He asked me why I was lifting like I was and what my goals were.

It was strange as in all the time I've been in the gym with this guy and although I may not appear approachable by any means he had never really talked to me much less actually joked around. We spent the next 30 minutes or so going back and forth.
 
That seems like a common gym dynamic. You see the same person over and over but never say anything. One day, inexplicably, one of you breaks the ice and then it's an hour later and you know more about the guy than you ever wanted to.
 
Yea I guess thats true.

Monday-rest/cardio?
Tuesday-upper body (primary overhead)
Weds-Lower body(primary Squat)
