Forgive my ignorance but because of your post I just made this potential connection...

Now I grew up around a large arabic speaking community, the way Khabib pronounced his name sounded exactly like how the guys I grew up with would pronounce "Habib" as in, Habibi. The K/H sound would be pronounced by rolling the back of your throat. Is this essentially the same name/pronunciation?

I know theres different accents and dialects of Arabic so I'm sort of doubting my theory

It's amazing how much he changed from the early UFC until recently. Barry Sanders, Andrew Luck, Michael Jordan (the first time), Rocky Marciano, etc. There are plenty of examples of dominant athletes retiring in their prime. Khabib was one of them, and hats off to him for following through on a promise to his family.
