To be fair he has probably hit his parents up for money and they suggested he work for it somehow. He is being innovative.
Of course this is outshone by the chances of him getting molested by being out in such situations on his own and probably getting asked by some pedo to 'help clean the basement'.
It does remind me of a story of my childhood in the mid 80s.
There was this fat nerd at school that no one liked. He was also a boy scout.
One day it was raining heavily and I think he was around 12. He turned up on his bike at our place.
He layed his bike on the lawn and started walking to the door. My dad came out and said 'what do you want?'
He said 'its give a scout a job week. I'm here for a job'.
My dad yelled 'I'll give you a bloody job! Go back down the street and find your brains! Its pissing down rain you idiot!'
The kid looked very dejected and didn't know how to handle that.
I was looking out the window thinking at him thinking 'welcome to my world'
He got back on his bike and road off into the rain.
For Aussie sherdoggers, my dad was like Alf Stewart only more so, more angry, More sweary etc.
