9" height differential!

i dont think sturve is legit 7 . he probably 6'10
He came into the UFC at a very young age (when he had just turned 21 a few days earlier). Originally he was measured at 6'11" with an 83" reach. The UFC remeasured him a few years later and they found he had grown an inch and his reach had grown 1.5". Men can actually keep growing in their late teens and early 20s. The NBA player David Robinson for instance was 6'6" when he entered the Naval Academy, but at least 7'0" when he graduated. He was actually too tall for the service, but he got grandfathered in because he met the height restriction when he joined.

More recently, I've seen him listed as 6'11.5" but with the same 84.5" reach. I think he's legit 6'11.5" and not 6'10" and he probably was an even 7'0" when they measured him that time. He's never been measured below 6'11". Height can vary based on when you're measured. You end the day a 1/2 inch shorter than when you woke up because gravity compresses your spine. Sleeping allows it to stretch back. So I think he's a legit 6'11"-7'0", he's consistently measured in that range.

There are a bunch of examples of guys giving up over 1 foot. Yuki Kondo beat Schilt 3 times and he’s 5’11 I think. Schilt lost to another guy that was like 5’9, I forget his name.
