He never really did retire. He had to quit the senate because his health was failing I think just a few months before he died. I think he also did like 20 years in the Army. The man lived two full lifetimes. To bad he was human garbage

Being too old is a state of mind. If you are 80 and have your wits about you, do your magic. But if you in a position of power where you are effective, hang it up. Go the Carter route and donate/volunteer to continue to make a difference.

Old entrenched mafia like power in politics is the same as the underworld. These old people would be enjoying retirement but instead are forced to live out their contracts. If you actually believe an 88 year old man loaded with money wants to keep working on the public eye you are as naive as they come. These people are prisoners.
