82nd Airborne to deploy to Iraq
By Michelle Tan, Staff writer 11:17 a.m. EDT April 8, 2015

About 500 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division will deploy this summer to Iraq and other locations in the region to support Operation Inherent Resolve.

The deploying soldiers belong to the division headquarters at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 82nd Airborne Division announced Wednesday. They will deploy in June for a nine-month tour. One contingent of soldiers will be in Iraq, while the rest will be based outside the country in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The 82nd Airborne division headquarters will assume the role of Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Iraq, replacing the 1st Infantry Division headquarters. In that role, the headquarters will provide command and control of coalition troops training, advising and assisting Iraqi Security Forces.

"I'm very proud of this great team," said Maj. Gen. Richard Clarke, the 82nd Airborne Division commanding general, in a statement. "Our paratroopers are well trained and ready to continue the tremendous support the 1st Infantry Division is providing to the Iraqi Security Forces. The coalition is strong and committed to helping Iraq defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, and we will continue to assist Iraq in its efforts to regain control over its sovereign territory."

This story, and the way the media has refused to cover it, is why Trump will be the nominee. The media is driving trump into office, because people know they are being given the most superficial information possible. Before debates became reality TV, it was all softball questions. When the media interviews politicians they are softball questions 98% of the time. There are few places to go to get truly in depth analysis, that isn't sensationalized.

I use this story as an example, as I think it illustrates my point here well. When I first saw this story a month ago, I was furious. Then I started to think about it, and realized that I have no clue what is going on here, and that is the real problem. I don't know the calculus, and chess game that is occurring here. For all I know Obama made this decision so that the next president has a footprint in Iraq, so it isn't political suicide if realities on the ground demand our action there. I also don't know that Gulf arab nations haven't lobbied the US into containing ISIS in Iraq, in a attempt to contain Iran's influence there. I don't know if our arming of the Iraqi government has been seen by Gulf Arab nations as basically funding Shi'ite/Iranian fighting forces, and that this is an attempt to pacify those concerns.

We basically have no information that is worth the Charmin extra soft I wipe my butt with, to make a judgement on whether this story should infuriate me, or I should applaud the calculus.

This is why Donald Trump is going to be the nominee. The media's coverage of our politics, lacks depth so badly, that there really isn't much difference between the empty platitudes that Trump utters, and every other politicians rhetoric.

The dumb'ing down of the populace through our media, is what allows the 82nd Airborne to be deployed to Iraq without question or explanation, and explains why all the attacks in the world will make no difference against Trump. The Emperor(Media) is wearing no clothes.

I'm guessing you're not military. I only say that because units have been rotating out of Iraq and Kuwait since 2008. The notion that we left completely is false. There has always been units coming and going. Mostly around Baghdad. Special operations especially.

This seems to underline my point that the media is basically a propaganda outfit, that doesn't inform anyone.

That only those with first hand knowledge would know how full of feces the whole narrative we are being fed is.

So people want detailed and specific answers from the media ave since they aren't getting them, they're going to vote for a a guy that gives no details and specifics about his policies.

Yes, because there is no difference in what they are being offered.

Yes Trump has empty platitudes, but this is the status quo, not the exception. Whether people can articulate this or not, I think most people know it is the truth.

This story and the issue of combat operations in Iraq and Syria was covered by the MSM. And it was discussed here.

Covered in what way?

Did they tell us why?

Did they explain anything but the most superficial information?

Google those topics, and you'll find print and video news sources with the information to answer your questions.

Funny, because when I google 82nd airborne to deploy to Iraq, I get 2 Army times stories, and a Huff Po article.

Why don't you provide some links to back up your claim?

Specifically, where is the explanation for why this is being done?

I'm going to let you do your own research, and reach your own conclusions. You can also conclude whatever you want concerning my knowledge of this. The last word is all yours, so have at it.

So how many Iraqis will they train up this time 20 maybe? How much will it cost this time for that 20?

Also are these guys considered special forces or elite?

I believe they are referred to as a rapid response force, which means they have to be ready to deploy within 24 hours at all times. They are one of a handful of units that are the leading edge of our military.

It's the National Anthem song:

Land of the free, home of the brave
We will bomb you and give you democracy

Democracy

Our sons and daughters to serve and die
Die
To kill for freedom

You are welcome it is beautiful
The sun and stars shine on our fire
We burn in light

Democracy, Democracy, Democracy
Let freedom ring
Stars are bright our resolve is right

By this gun, by the sun you will be free
Our sons and daughters
Our love for thee

Explosions in the night
Explosions for freedom
We come for right

Let freedom ring
Let the bankers
Let Wallstreet

Let Freedom ring

Since when has anyone given a shit about military deployments other than the military? The Truman went out for strikes on ISIS late last year too. You know why you didnt hear about it?

BECAUSE NO ONE OUTSIDE THE NAVY GIVES A SHIT

No one cares when we put boots on the ground in Iraq?

Really?

For the most part, no. We've been clowning in the Middle East for 15 years and we're desensitized to it now. It's an everyday shitty thing, like forgetting to lock your door or something.

Trump was against the Iraq War. I'm hoping that he'll enough respect for our men and women in the military to not send them on missions with no real goal that last forever. If he uses them, have a concrete and realistic intelligent objective, get in, get it done, and get out.

And this is why Donald Trump is going to be president.

People should care, but the media is failing them. People are not infrormed.

Go flip on the news, and watch some coverage of the election. Are they talking about middle east policy, comparing trade platforms, stances on HC, with in depth analysis?

Donald Trump
