"6 Bold Predicitions for 2018" - Sportsnet Article

Gotcha. Sorry if I seemed defensive haha. I like Max, I see him as a humble, hard working kid who's now claiming what he's earned. It could happen, but I haven't seen any real signs of it yet.

"So many times... It happens so fast... You trade your passion for glory"

I just have a bad feeling about Max... He was very humble, he does work very hard. I worry with younger guys like him that having worked so hard and suddenly gaining lots of rewards taking their foot off the pedal... The reason I say Max in particular is because he did suddenly start dressing up, and talking about how great he is.

The obvious argument to tnis is that he's fighting in the McGregor era, and cutting the odd obnoxious promo is great for business... I watched the ESPN 30 for 30 on Ric Flair the other day - same principle.

I see what you mean. I think it comes down to motives. To me, he's in it to motivate the kids from his neighborhood to achieve their dreams. An admirable cause. Of course money can change that, but I think he's just going with the flow of the sport and putting himself out there. Time will tell but I can't see his work ethic fading, especially with some tough challenges ahead of him.

Let's hope so - I like to watch fighters at their best, and it always sucks to see them fall off, whoever they are.

Brian Ortega is my guy though... I have a really strong feeling that he will be champ fairly soon. Would be aweosme if they had a great rivalry.

off topic but UFC was better on sports net but tsn is okay i guess.

I think the correct answer will be "None of the above" on that tournement.

I see a lot of bullshit in that one's future.

Ugh, I hope not. I'm a sucker for the tournament gimmick, even if it is comprised mostly of washed up fighters.

Rory wins Bellator HW tournament as a injury replacement.

Especially if it's washed up fighters... I love nostalgia just as much as I love tournaments.

I just see a fee guys pulling out after the first round, and a stand in winning.

Also in 2018 Ronda Rousey will come back and KO Holly Holm for the Championship.
Are they making a Women's HW division? Cause that's the only weight Ronda makes these days.

If it's not against Bader or meathead I can totally see it happening

Rory vs Rampage, return of the guts

That's a really weird pic to choose...

Lol, I was trying to find a decent pic of him in Metamoris, when he had that tire around his waist.... I gave up when it wasn't one of the first 5 photos on Google search.

I hope Carla lay and prays her way to shitting all over this dumb list

I see.

Anyone would think you went out of your way to find the most homoerotic MMA photo you could possibly find!

Number 4 is too vague. Who would be a "surprise winner" from this group:

Fedor Emelianenko, Frank Mir, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Chael Sonnen, Ryan Bader, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, Matt Mitrione, and Roy Nelson.

Mir and Sonnen would be surprises. Rampage to a lesser extent, I guess. Besides them, nobody else would be THAT shocking, although there are a couple of clear favorites (Mitrione, Roy, and Bader, in my opinion).

True. In the full article the author compares it to the strikeforce hw tourney when a fill in ended up winning - I think this would be the "surprise."

Hopefully it comes to fruition and is a good tourney, even though it's Bellator

"1. GSP will retire… officially this time
Probably

2. Conor McGregor will fight in the UFC and lose

50-50, he fights in MMA. Odds of losing entirely based on opponent

3. Rory MacDonald will become Bellator’s first two-weight champion

Wasn't Branch a 2-weight champion?
Edit: oh yeah, that was WSOF

4. The Bellator heavyweight tournament will have a surprise winner
Nelson or Bader

5. AKA will finally boast four champs simultaneously
Lol. They'll be lucky to still have DC. Depends on length of Jones' suspension. Rockhold shouldn't be fighting for the title to begin with, but he'll lose. Khabib won't be able to fight until 2019. And lol at Cain.

6. Cynthia Calvillo will become strawweight champ

Who?
