Elections 5th Democratic Primary Debate Discussion (NBC/YouTube)

Who won the 5th Democratic Primary Debate?

  • Total voters
    25
  • Poll closed .
It's pretty crazy how the right is basically saying Obama has ran this country into the ground while the left is praising Obama for what he has done. How can it be so different? Lmao

Partly, it's different goals. If you want more belligerent foreign policy, higher inequality, etc., you're not going to like those things changing. Also, the left isn't all praising Obama. A lot are trying to fight complacency by saying that we need more progress, but that plays into forces that want to reverse what's been accomplished.

He has a good track record as governor.

O'Malley is responsible for gerrymandering the crap out of Maryland---even worse than before---so that a state with a 2:1 Dem/Rep split (67% Dem) of registered voters now has 7/8 (87.5% Dem) Democratic district breakdown.

As a result of O'Malley's actions, the 6th district, which I used to be part of and which has been strongly Republican going back decades, was extended into the northern part of Montgomery County (very strongly Democratic) which flipped it into a Democratic district. I invite you to compare the pre-O'Malley to the current, post-O'Malley map. We are traditionally part of MD's 6th district, which includes the rural, conservative counties of Garrett, Allegany, Washington and Frederick Counties. By chopping out a big portion of our Frederick County from the 6th district, and then extending the 6th down into Montgomery County, O'Malley took a state which was already heavily gerrymandered in favor of Democrats and turned it into the worst-gerrymandered state in the USA by all commonly used measures.

I didn't see this thread, don't know how i missed it. Probably a good idea to merge my thread into this one

Oops!

LOL you're kidding right? This post reminds me so much of a scene in It's Always Sunny:

Also, I thought Bernie won easily last night. His strongest performance thus far imo.

Oh yes please tell how he "won land slide"

You ever actually been in a debate son?

Explain in DETAIL how he won and is more logical. Oh and he is lucky he had the moderators help I guess that means the "Evil Oligarchs of the Media" want Bernie to win right? After all they cut off O'malley over 3x to let Bernie talk over Martin O' Malley!!!

The left is not praising Obama half of the Left hates Obama from what I can tell hence they hate Hillary and spew hate against her and think Obama is a 'shill'. All the Hardcore Bernie fans I am meeting are talking about how Obama is a s'ell out to Goldman Sachs" and corporations or some other conspiracy crap.

The far left is rising from my point of view and they dislike Obama hence they want even more change.

My take away from watching the fourth debate is that Hillary Clinton wants to ask Obama to Prom

If even half of these people who vote and all of these online polls come out on election day in vote for Sanders then he wins in a landslide.

I'm very confused by this post. It seems like english isn't your first language. Anyways, I never said he won by a landslide so not sure why you are replying to me with that quote. And why are you so upset that O'Malley isn't getting as much time to talk? He has literally zero chance of winning this election. Why should we waste time listening to what he has to say instead of listening to the two actual candidates? Seems really obvious to me...

You really think 50% of democrats hate Hillary and Obama?

We've already been over online polls. If 1/100th of Paul's online voters came out, he would be president today.

True but Sanders has a way bigger support base than Paul ever did. Paul was more of a thing with conservative voters where it seems Sanders actually has a real momentum as he is winning New Hampshire and Iowa. Their campaign support really aren't comparable in my opinion

I wasn't saying they were the same scope/popularity. My point was those online polls aren't scientific and are just as useless as those groups they interview on Fox and CNN after the debates.

Dem insiders: Sanders failed to dent Clinton
90

Bernie Sanders is riding a wave of momentum in Iowa and New Hampshire, but his performance in Sunday night’s debate failed to dislodge Hillary Clinton from her perch as national front-runner for the Democratic nomination.

That’s according to Democratic members of The POLITICO Caucus — a panel of leading strategists, operatives and activists in Iowa, New Hampshire and the two states that will follow with nominating contests next month: Nevada and South Carolina, where Sunday’s debate was held.

“She wins anytime her opponents don't draw blood,” said a New Hampshire Democrat who, like all the insiders, completed the survey anonymously.

The POLITICO Wrongometer

POLITICO's analysis of where the Democratic field stretched the truth, steered around some inconvenient facts, or just plain got it wrong.

Says political insiders. I don't think either of them won or lost. They both hit on their normal talking points and I don't think either one of them swayed any voters to their side. And the fact that there saying Sanders didn't draw blood is also ludicrous. The fact that they would even say that shows how incredibly biased they are.

Are they going to say that this comment by Sanders didn't draw some blood. I'm speaking about the first video in the article.

Sanders didn't really "dent" Clinton, but he did build momentum for his message.

If anything, the Clinton-denting was done by O'Malley. That dude has some savage attacks on Clinton and her being beholden to private interests. I was really expecting him to take it easy on her and attack Sanders so as to posture himself within the DNC, but he was markedly harsher on the frontrunner Hillary, as he should have been.

lol @ "half of the left" hating Obama. The left, even if disappointed with the center-right feeling of his administration, really loves Barack, as they should.

Clinton? Yeah, a lot of leftists dislike Clinton.

You really think 50% of democrats hate Hillary and Obama?

1) I am upset because some Sanders fans are fanatics and hypocrites. When Bernie was originally interrupted and not given enough "time" in the first debate and even 2nd debate. Sanderites went insane all over Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and similar social media outlets they claim that the media "against him" and that the moderators are 'against' him because they interrupted him to give Clinton more time to speak.

Yet last night I counted over THREE TIMES (3x) that Martin O Malley was interrupted so Sanders could speak. Yet an interesting thing happened on Social media, I saw ZERO outrage from these Sanders fans. All of a sudden when the moderators are now letting Sanders talk the most and letting him talk over another opponent they are silent. Now all of a sudden there is no "conspiracy" against O' malley.

2) It is clear that many of his fan base cannot think for themselves. They previously claim media is against him and that the 'establishment' is against anyone who truly threatens them. They claim moderators don't give him enough time and let Clinton talk over him. Yet when he is favored and given more time and has positive articles written about him by "establishment" writers nobody says anything. Infowars and Rand Paul hardcore fans can at least point to the fact that the media and RNC kicked Rand Paul off the stage, he is getting ZERO coverage compared to Bernie who is getting all this attention by the 'establishment'. Funny isn't it? If some cabal exists that is against people like Bernie then why would they even give him anytime a day? Surely they could use their 'connections' to rig the election or completely ignore Bernie right?

3) Since many Sanders fans think a 'cabal' exists that is somehow "against Bernie" then I ask how come they never think it is possible that Sanders may be a deep cover agent pawn used to usher in state ran Socialism ala a type of Bolshevik revolution yet less bloody?

4) I am getting really annoyed at how Sanders fans hold him to one standard and yet everyone else to a different standard. Especially Clinton, they are not fair with their treatment of her.

Oh and I am not sure that most Democrats or even 50% dislike Obama. But many Sanders fans openly hate Obama and I have not met many at all in real life, on campus, or on the internet who like Obama. They are now all going all full conspiracy and claiming Obama is 'corrupted' or bought and paid by "Goldman Sachs". And hatred of Clinton might as well coincide with dislike for Obama since Clinton is the most similar to Obama and the best way for the Obama legacy to continue would be by electing Clinton NOT Bernie. So yes id say that most people who dislike Clinton clearly dislike Obama and think the Obama accomplishments and legacy means nothing.

It's been just as annoying on the opposite side with Trump. Conservative dismiss Rubio because they aren't sure with him on immigration and then the damn frontrunnner has had virtually all liberal policies. Trump was talking about support for partial birth abortions in 2015. How ignorant can a party be?

Did anyone else realize Hillary doesn't know the difference between Youtube views, and subscribers? o_O

The entire idea of "I can't stand _______ because his supporters" is idiotic.

Politics shouldn't be about what group of people are cooler to hang out with. Support a candidate for his/her positions and track record, not how cool or nice or mean or annoying their supporters are.

Why Young Democrats Love Bernie Sanders
ap_798888135853-e1454979901340.jpg

Perhaps the most eye-popping statistic to come out of last week’s Iowa caucuses was Bernie Sanders’s overwhelming advantage among young voters. According to the Iowa entrance poll, Sanders beat Hillary Clinton 84 percent to 14 percent among Democrats aged 171 to 29. He also won voters aged 30 to 44 by a 21 percentage point margin. But Clinton easily won among voters aged 45 and older, allowing her to essentially tie with him in the state. Pre-election polls in New Hampshire suggest that the age divisions in the Democratic electorate could be at least as dramatic here.

Clinton calls out Sanders for Wall Street connection
90

Hillary Clinton took a new tack in defending her donations from Wall Street banks on Monday, pointing to the example of President Barack Obama when confronted by a heckler in the audience here.

Obama took money from Wall Street, she told a packed crowd here after introductions from her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and her daughter, Chelsea Clinton. “Did that stop him from signing Dodd-Frank?"

Clinton’s rejoinder came when an audience member repeatedly yelled “you took their money!” as Clinton got to the Wall Street reform section of her stump speech.
