Media Close up: Coach Khabib masterfully explains sequence to Islam

I hated Khabib before the Gaethje fight, but I can't deny his greatness afterwards.

He's 15-1 as a coach now as well and will be 17-1 if UFC 272 goes as planned.

He might go down as one of the best fighters and coaches ever.

Nothing but respect.

I’m sure this will be a talking point in the future if Islam is a dominant champ. People will say he’s just Khabib’s puppet doing whatever he tells him to (which is what a coach is for lol, but they will)

Can anyone show another coach showing a fight IQ remotely close to this?

Khabib is unique as a coach in that he actually competed in and won at the highest level in MMA. As good as Trevor Whitman, Javier Mendez, Firas Zahabi, Mark Henry and other coaches are, they don't have the first hand MMA experience that Khabib does.

Matt Serra is the only other former MMA fighter I can think of who went on to become a successful coach.
