Why don't fighters like Johny Walker use a high guard?

When you know your chin is not that good, wouldn't a high guard help?
I know these are MMA gloves, but look at Petr Yan and how well he use it
Or it only works for smaller fighters?

He has crappy fundamentals and relies on crazy hail marys to land.

He is/was a guy that blasted up the ranks at LHW by being crazy and utterly reckless, but that isn't going to fly in the top 10 tis why he is now getting knocked out left and right. Don't expect anything but for Walker to get cut soon as Dana has used him up.

This might come as a surprise to you but these fighters that choose to get repeatedly hit in the head for a career aren't usually the best and brightest of the bunch. This is why they rely on and pay a lot of money for quality coaching. Great examples of this are Mayweather and Mike Tyson. Both guys are completely brain dead but they had some of the best coaching and discipline and as a result, they were invincible (While Tyson was under Cus D'mato's wing).

Johnny Walker has never had a great coaching team around him and hence his skills have remained stagnant and around the same level as when he first came into the UFC. If he doesn't get cut, sure, he might hit another can or debutant with a flying knee but until he actually makes positive changes and moves to a quality camp that is all he will ever amount to.

Unfortunately you're right.
He won't survive at the top, so next stop will be PFL, or Bellator.

He has zero momentum at the moment. Seems like they just want to get rid of him with current matchmaking.
Give him Cherant for slight momentum boost.

You have to be real good to be fighting elites with that face pace risk style. I like it but its a risk. Jiri has to be careful too.

What? He can't read properly... Domestic violence... Stint in prison... Thinks his wrestling is 7/10... Big time degenerate gambler...

Do I need to keep going or? What's the matter, do you see him as your intellectual equal or something?

I wouldn't hire a lawyer to do my plumbing now would I? He's a genius when it comes to Boxing.

Opens up body shots and takedowns
Not really. Only if you don't know how to adjust to body shots and take downs from high guard. Boxers use the high guard and block body shots just fine with it. Yan has no problem with TDD while using high guard. You can frame from there pretty easily when the takedowns come if you can read the takedowns and have TDD.

How would they do that? Their rib cage is wide open. Unless they crouch down or keep one arm low to protect the body
