It's no secret that Nate Diaz only has one fight left on his contract. Dana obviously doesn't want to give him a big fight or a favorable matchup because if he's gone, he'd rather use him as a stepping stone and diminish his market value with a loss, hence the ridiculous chimaev matchup idea. Nate on the contrary want the biggest fight possible against the biggest name possible, to increase his market value.
But realistically who would be an opponent that would satisfiy both sides ? Let's look :
1- Conor McGregor
Would do it for Nate but Dana would never allow such a big fight for Nate's last fight with the company
2- Ben Askren
As ridiculous as it sounds, askren called out Diaz on Twitter these days. Totally rubbish and stupid in my opinion.
3-Luque
Nate seems to want that fight and luque too. I don't know why the UFC doesn't follow with it.
4- Tony Ferguson
Dope fight even at this point but Dana probably wants Tony also as a stepping stone (again) so I doubt it's made.
5- No idea
I have no other idea left. He'll fight in 2022 I thubk, but if you think it'll be someone different please tell.
EDIT: It's possible that they'll give him the Belal/Wonderboy winner too. UFC might agree on it thinking Nate loses.
