Who wins these matchups?

BW: Aljamain Sterling vs. Dominic Cruz (2010)
FW: Alexander Volkanovski vs. Jose Aldo (2009)
LW: Charles Oliveira vs. Anthony Pettis (2010)
WW: Kamaru Usman vs. Carlos Condit (2007)
MW: Israel Adesanya vs. Paulo Filho (2007)

Cruz wins, bad matchup for Sterling.

Aldo wins, but only just. Volk is extremely good. Either could win, but I would favour a prime-ish Aldo. (2009 was probably a bit early for Prime Aldo, but he was close-ish.) Volk could definitely out gameplan him though.

Usman smashes Condit.

Filho was good, depends on which version of him shows up though. Izzy wins against both versions, but the not-crazy version of Filho gives him a decent fight,

Pettis vs Oliveira is legit interesting, I think Oliveira would win, but it's not a blowout. Oliveira doesn't exactly have the pressure of RDA, and Pettis was no slouch on the ground. Either could take it, but I would favour Charles.

It's hard not to go with all 2021 for me. Volk vs Aldo and Sterling Cruz being the hardest imo. Would root for the WEC guys minus Filho.....of course. I know Charles lost to Pettis like 15 fights ago, but Do Bronx is a much different fighter now and WEC Pettis' grappling wasn't nearly as good as when he beat the crappy version Do Bronx.

Yeah, I just think that fluid to herky jerky too much movement style of Cruz gets Yan flustered early on, and leaves Yan just head hunting rounds 3-5 because he can't land consistently on the Dom

Cruz decision to me

Man its disappointing to see how undervalued Volk is till this day.

Oh the irony of a white belt that joined on Tuesday saying this

I've watched every UFC and Pride fight that has ever aired and probably every WEC fight that aired on Versus back in the day.

The fact of the matter is that the game has evolved greatly in the past decade. Sure if we are comparing who had a better career or better legacy then of course I'm taking Aldo and Cruz but if we are legit asking who would win in a fight then obviously the 2021 guys are heads and shoulders better than them. The game has progressed much more in the past 10 years than those fighters have regressed.

I agree. Yan doesn't have the footwork to cut off Cruz, and as you say Yan is mostly a head hunter, and head hunting Cruz is a sure way to lose a decision.

Plus Yan is a slow starter, so Cruz will bank a couple of rounds before things get interesting.

Cruz
Aldo
Pettis
Usman
Izzy

IMO 2007-2009 WEC champions win 3/5 and Filho might be able to pull off the upset. Only 2021 fight I feel where someone is a big favorite is Usman over Condit.
