Current UFC Champs vs. the Last WEC Champs

Cruz and Aldo slaughter their counterparts. Usman beats the brakes off anyone right now, he’s absolutely on his way to being better than GSP.
I presume Izzy beats Paulo but I’m so exhausted with him that I sort of hope he would lose.

I think Tim Syliva could beat Roy Nelson at an all you can eat pizza buffet.

Cruz was so good in his prime. Slightly removed from his peak and still had enough to beat EPO dillashaw

Cruz dances around Sterling to win a decision.

Aldo either TKO's Volk or he wins a comfortable decision.

Oliviera vs Pettis is toss up. Pettis beat him a few years ago, but that was at 145 (neither of their true weight classes.) Also, Do Bronx has gone on an unbelievable run since then. Prime vs Prime, this is a close one.

Usman most likely blankets Carlos

Prime Filho has the ability to take Israel down and dominate him on the mat, but if he cannot secure that takedown in the first 5 minutes or so, he gets chewed up with leg kicks and long punches from an Israel who will be on his bicycle.

We going prime for prime? I’d say Volk wouldn’t take Aldo, Cruz would take Aljo, prime Petis takes Chucky maybe, Kamaru takes Carlos, and Izzy absolutely destroys Paulo I’m sorry.

I watched some of Dom’s old fights and damn prime Dom was a really cool fighter to watch. He gets a lot of shit now for his commentary(rightfully so) and the Cejudo fans, but when he was in his prime dude was a beast.

As a huge fan of the WEC, I'm only confident Cruz wins his fight. Usman vs Condit would be a legalized murder. Also, I consider Chael the last WEC MW champion. Would've been if Filho was professional.

Volkanoski is a pitter-patter cardio kickboxer. Aldo beats him from pillar to post.

And LMAO at the clowns like Chlen Sosonen thinking Cruz has anything for Yan. If Cejudo knocked him out, Yan would eviscerate him. Shertards undervalue Yan greatly, because he spends the first 1-2 rounds carefully feeling his opponent out, but once Yan begins the real onslaught, there's no stopping him.

He absolutely is, unless you're insane.
Because Cruz was clearly just as good in 2020 as he was in his prime. It's not like he was old for a BW and had multiple serious injuries that caused him to have to sit out for years or anything

He's the champ in the same way Jones is undefeated and will be officially champ again soon.

Cruz wins, bad matchup for Sterling.

Aldo wins, but only just. Volk is extremely good. Either could win, but I would favour a prime-ish Aldo. (2009 was probably a bit early for Prime Aldo, but he was close-ish.) Volk could definitely out gameplan him though.

Usman smashes Condit.

Filho was good, depends on which version of him shows up though. Izzy wins against both versions, but the not-crazy version of Filho gives him a decent fight,

Pettis vs Oliveira is legit interesting, I think Oliveira would win, but it's not a blowout. Oliveira doesn't exactly have the pressure of RDA, and Pettis was no slouch on the ground. Either could take it, but I would favour Charles.

Chael is uncrowned WEC champ and may have given Izzy the fight of his life.

Who wins these matchups?

BW: Aljamain Sterling vs. Dominic Cruz (2010)
FW: Alexander Volkanovski vs. Jose Aldo (2009)
LW: Charles Oliveira vs. Anthony Pettis (2010)
WW: Kamaru Usman vs. Carlos Condit (2007)
MW: Israel Adesanya vs. Paulo Filho (2007)
My picks
Cruz
Aldo
Oliveria
Usman
Adesanya

Usman being the biggest fav

WW: Kamaru Usman vs. Carlos Condit (2007)
MW: Israel Adesanya vs. Paulo Filho (2007)

Cruz by UD
Volk by UD - the Aldo Volk faced was far more skilled, conditioned and equally fast, just far less wild which is another reason UFC Aldo is better
Oliveira at this point by UD or TKO
Usman by UD
Adesanya by TKO

Man, those are some good matchups. Usman-Condit is the only one that wouldn't be competitive in my opinion.

Wow.

Cruz/Aldo/Pettis in their primes would all be favored at this point.

Usman unquestionably over Condit.

Prime Filho in Pride was an animal, but he'd already lost it by the time he got to the WEC.

Agreed on most other than Filho having lost it in 2007. His decline was rapid but IMO didn't happen till after the first Sonnen fight.

Philo lost his last title defence to Chael but missed weight. He certainly was not the last champ IMO. There is precedent for only one fighter to be eligible for the title on the line.
