Keep in mind that real fights don't last fifteen minutes. You would be hard pressed to find one that goes one full minute.

Knowing ahead of time you only have five minutes will change a lot. Strategies will be different. Many will assume a wrestler will take an opponent down and hump them for the win. Sure that may happen. But if you know going into a fight that you only have five minutes against a wrestler, TDD and Derrick Lewis "just get up" techniques will become high priorities in training.

Cardio won't be as big an issue.

Fighters will be going for the win immediately. The feeling out process may be thirty seconds max. You cant take a round off if you only have one round.

Fighters may compete 15 to 20 times a year if not more.

There are tons of first round finishes now thus one should not expect a decrease.

This should not be standardized across the sport but I would like to see an org that only has one round fights.

I say 1, 7:00 minute round. Aggressive officiating on lay and pray. Stand em up if they aren't offensive.

Ok, you "pro'd" it, now con it. Exercise in critical thinking, go!...

I've seen a fight last a few minutes, but most people don't know what the hell they're doing. So your typical brawl wont last long when you have two guys that are essentially just throwing and exerting.

Rounds and time are important to get a somewhat accurate idea of who was actually better, who legitimately won

Its hard to say. Strikers would have the advantage, but so would wresters if they shoot right off the bat and take the opponent down. It would be a shit show in my opinion.

How about no rounds, no refs, but you can bring a tag team partner?

Maybe change the scoring criteria. Effective striking is paramount hence a takedown and nothing more won't score unless the person they took down did absolutely nothing in the fight. The guy with the takedown has to land effective strikes or go for sub for their takedown to mean anything.
