Short footage of Ciryl Gane sparring Murad Aliev, HW boxer, recently qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.

I expect boxing will be key to his next fight. Volkov's kicking game and grappling are solid and will be hard to exploit, but he is vulnerable in boxing exchanges.

Future HW champ is coming.

Are French as good in boxing as in war fighting?

Tony Yoka and Estelle Mossely won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympics, at SuperHW and Woman lightweight. In the history of the boxing Olympic France is 11th in number of medal (out of 197 country), so France is not USA, Great Britain or Cuba but it is still good at boxing.

I'm looking at those olympic ranking and i notice Mexico is ranked 25. I'm a total boxing casual, but isn't it surprising ? I thought Mexico was a boxing powerhouse.

Edit : @spinup beat me to it

Theres a lot of difference between pro and amateur boxing. Mexico is a power house in pro boxing.

As for french in pro boxing, they are rather poor. They used to have top level boxers, but sincce 2000, the only ones i can think off that were considered threats in their division are mormeck and tiozzo (I'm sure a missing a few though)

Yeah that's what i thought but it is because of the rule set that make mexican "style" inadapted in Olympic boxing or because Mexican just don't go into amateur boxing ?

Bit of both. They tend to have a more brawling style which doesn't translate very well in amateur boxing, and since they are rather poor, the best talent prefer to turn pro and make money at an early age rather than "waste" time in the amateur. For example, Chavez, canelo, cuevas, sanchez, barrera and morales all started their pro career before reaching 18 yo (in cuevas case he was 14)
