Media Gane training with french olympic boxing team

Gane has only two decisions, over two guys who have only been finished once.
That's not the definition of a point fighter
A less cautious gameplan against Rozenstuik could have ended the same way it did against Overheem.
What his fight against Rozenstruik proverd was Gane can stay rational and maintain his gameplan until the end of the fight. I was thoroughly impressed by his performance because he looked about the same from round 1 to round 5. No matter who he faces, I think he'll be champion soon.

Bit of both. They tend to have a more brawling style which doesn't translate very well in amateur boxing, and since they are rather poor, the best talent prefer to turn pro and make money at an early age rather than "waste" time in the amateur. For example, Chavez, canelo, cuevas, sanchez, barrera and morales all started their pro career before reaching 18 yo (in cuevas case he was 14)

I think you're right but Barrera wasn't poor, had an amateur career, dropped out in his 3rd year of his law degree studies to become a full time pro.

Yeah, barrera was an outlier. As you said,. came from a rich family, and it's one of the reason why morales hated him

Guess it worked
Less for Aliev who got a robbed in completely corrupt DQ in Tokyo for nonexistent headbutts and a cut caused by legal punches in a fight he was comfortably winning. The joy of boxing...
