Now would be great time for the ufc to a big tournament. It would be on par or even better than the Strikeforce HW Grand Prix, which I was very hyped for.

Stipe vs Ngannou 2 (Mar)
Blaydes vs Lewis (Jan)

Rozenstruik vs Gane (Mar)
Overeem vs Volkov (Feb)

Semi-finals go down late-summer/fall, finals take place 1st quarter 2022.

Who would win? I think we would see Ngannou vs Gane in the finals.

Yeah, that's never happening, and Stipe beats them all, anyway. So, what's the point?

War Stipe!

Would be awesome. Will also never happen unfortunately. I still think Stipe beats everyone there unless he declines.

And Jones would be in there obviously.

Would the UFC like to do that many HW fights? They seem to treat the HW division as the bastard step child of the UFC.

That has more to do with Stipe being the champ. Needing to recover. If Ngannou wins he can easily turnaround in 5-6 months, which is the timetable I initially gave.

UFC fighters too diva and unified rules too pussy to allow it
Has nothing to do with being too diva.
Imagine ufc trying to make a tournamenjt with Conor,Khabib and the others. PRIDEFC format, one match every two months,w 2 fights in one night in the final.

You really think that even if Khabib and Conor would participate (they wouldnt) That UFC can afford Khabib and/or Conor to fight 4 times in 6 months?

People need to let tournaments go.
They are dead for the following reasons

1) USADA
You want guys to fight that often against top comp, without PEDS? good luck!
Also what happens if someone makes it to the final and then pops? gross.

2) NSAC
Simply wont allow guys to fight that often anyway, win or lose.

3) Control
UFC can control things much easier without tournaments. Tournaments are unpredictable. Comrier wound up being an incredible fighter, but at the time im sure hes the last person strikeforce wanted to win that thing.

4) Finally,money.
What do you win if you are the GP winner? A title shot?
Why should someone fight 4 times, when they can probably get a title shot by beating 2 ranked fighters, than entering a tournament where you have to win 4 times against god knows who.
Do you win money? How much are we talkin? Whatever is enough to have Conor and Khabib compete (which they would have NO need to do anyway) UFC cant afford it.

Tournaments are pretty much only useful for young hungry broke prospects,at best.

The UFC never does tournaments. And they don't give a legit reason why

Im not saying its not workable. Im just saying the UFC wouldnt do anything special like a tournament for the HW division. They see the HW division as low tier.

They dont need to give one. They dont want to.
Doin tourneys in todays mma climate is clownshoes.
No one wins.

They wont do it for any division.

Doubters shall please step to the back of the bus. He could survive a one night tournament if he had to.

After he beats Ngannou again. He hands Jones an honest to God Knock Out loss. Then maybe he retires.

Look at what happened when Strikeforce tried?

Fedor (his name be praised) was eliminated in the first round
Alistair was taken out of the tourney
A no name Cormier (at the time) won

Was that really worth it? Hardly a satisfying conclusion

They can barely keep fights on schedule week to week without guys getting hurt or testing for COVID, why would they attempt a tournament?

I thought TS was going to recommend an old-school ONE DAY tournament which I'd be all-in on. Doubt you could get it sanctioned, but if you modified the rules to one 5 minute round per fight I think it would be possible. You know you'd watch.

For years I've wished that they'd do a super heavyweight division where there were only 3 rounds of 2 minutes each. Just fat guys throwing bombs for 2 minutes.

They should've an open weight tourney and invite minowa-man so he can win it all! What you think?
Open Weight is even deader than tourneys lol

and Minowaman is 44 yr old. His days of outpacing a plane are done i think.
