4 new facts about JDS

I like JDS and Cain too. This fight finally showed new facts about JDS

1. He has great chin (it was a long time question here)
2. He is a real warrior (maybe this was known before)
3. His takedown defense is tested and good.
4. He has no groundgame. This is the biggest disappointment for me. No wrestling, no BJJ. How is that possible? 5 years with Nogueiras and BJJ black belt for nothing?

Am I right?

Yeah, i agree with 1, 2 and 3. He has a pretty good chin and he got a big heart. His takedown defense was being pretty good when he wasnt tired. About his BJJ, i think it was good, he annulled Cain's ground game and even being very very tired he always was getting the fight back to standup.

The biggest mistake was underestimating Cain's hands, they're so heavy and JDS underestimated that. He was worried about the takedowns and forgot of keeping his hands up to defend cain's punches.

BTW, i bet on JDS in a possible revenge, what is most feared in Cain was annulled by JDS, his wrestling and his strong GNP. Cain won that fight by using some punches and fighting standup, JDS underestimated him and paid for it, but everyone knows that JDS standup skills are better than Cain's, thats why i go with him on a rematch.

"No groundgame" I mean: he did one thing and only on the ground: get up as soon possible, no armbar or choke attempt, no ground and pound attempt. Escape from the ground.
I didn't see this behavior from a BJJ black belt never in MMA.
IMHO the ability to get up is not the part of good groungame, but might be I'm wrong.

I don't think his TDD is as good as advertised. Cain didn't 'go for it' on every attempt. He certainly didn't even try in the first fight.

When the best part of your game and your bst chance of winning the fight is own the feet striking getting up as soon as possible should be the goal.

And your wrong aout it not being a bjj skill or part of the ground game. Getting to the feet requires skill, especially under a wrestler like Cain.

Also you should add something I noticed since the Werdum fight but that hasn't really evolved :

5. His defensive boxing really sucks.. He is kinda fine with it because he has a very good chin a la Sergei Kharitonov ( who would spank him by the way by being an horrible match up)

And also his offense really lacks variety
He looked like a one trick pony against Cain

rewatch the first round... how many times did cain attempt to take jds down and fail?

He did look completely lost on the ground, but grappling is insanely hard when you're that gassed. Especially for a Heavyweight.

I think in MMA is really hard to use defensive boxing skills with that small gloves, what

He did a great job of not getting KTFO and constantly got right back to his feet, but that was it.

one thing i think is JDS has got to expand his game...
