1. DJ is now the Shortest Fighter in his Division
Plus he’s only had a reach advantage one time during his reign, which was by 1 inch against Chris Cariaso.

2. Doesn’t take Protein Powder
Not only has DJ never failed a drug test, but he’s known for not even taking protein powder. He's so strict in fact that he gets his Tylenol approved by USADA.

3. Excluding Cariaso, DJ’s Contenders Are 36-0 in the UFC outside of fighting each other
- Opponents Combined UFC Record = 36-11
- Record When Excluding Losses to DJ = 36-3
- Record When Also Excluding Losses to Benavidez or Dodson = 36-0

BONUS: DJ currently has more title defences then all other 9 champions combined.
BONUS: DJ’s has more finishes in his 8 title defences then Jon Jones had in his.
BONUS: DJ broke the record for latest stoppage twice in the same reign, the latter of which has made the record unbreakable.
BONUS: DJ is the first champion I can recall who has two title fights booked at the same time (07/30 & 12/03).

He is also the only fighter to finish Horiguchio/Cejudo/Benavidez/Moraga.

Isn't this mostly the result of bad matchmaking or a shallow division?

Can we make Horiguchio a thing?

Well no shit. He's fighting a bunch of nobodies. Jones had fought a murderers row.

Nah, Overeem fought nobodies to get 2/3 of those belts in your avatar.

DJ has beaten up so many Brazilians and Mexicans Trump is going to make hip captain of the wall.

Sorry if my comment bothered you. It's true though. 125 is a joke of a division, they need to merge it with 135.
You're probably one of those guys who thinks Lineker is good but doesn't give DJ any credit for beating Ali.

There is no doubt in my mind that Demetrious is much more complete fighter then Jones. And people saying that he has only fought cans are dummies that use a bs and disrespectfull argument.

Point 1 & 3 are worth noting, interesting bonus points.

But TS, point 2. Why did you have to ruin a good thread?

100 % agree. DJ is worthy of more respect, recognition, and $.
Unfortunately, it's hard for the average MMA to get behind the lighter divisions, unless you can sell a fight like Conor or Diaz can. It's hard when you meet a legend of the sport and you're a foot taller than him. Most people look up to Jones; both metaphorically and literally. Appearances mean a lot to people (both Consciously and unconsciously). Regardless, DJ is still the best Pound for Pound fighter in my opinion. Not to mention he's also a good role-model for the Kids who follow the sport...

Maybe I'm being a bit naive, you could be right. But the way I've heard DJ handles USADA is worth nothing and I didn't know how to express it.
For example he stated that any time he wants to take a Tylenol or anything else he's suspicious about, he calls USADA and gets them to approve it. When I heard that I immediately wondered why other fighters are doing the same thing.

I would take the Protein Powder point off. This actually makes it easier for him to make weight. Great points though other that that one.

Coming soon

1st simultaneous 2 division champ in the UFC (125 + 135)

Impressive run to say the least, it is sad to see people hating on him though. It is to claim a division is shallow/weak/etc when they guy on top is that much better than the rest. The same thing was being said of MW when Anderson was destroying everyone in front of him.

DJ is a beast there is no denying that

I think another misconception is that DJ doesn't make a lot of money.
In reality he's not getting Conor/Ronda cash, but he's still doing quite well. Probably even better now that he's just signed a contract renewal.
