How the fuck is "we were soldiers" and "jarhead" missing?

Good to see someone recognize Das Boot. Its one of the best war films ever made and one that probably most of the people in this thread have never seen. Its weird for a film to be so good and yet so few people have even seen it.

It's way better with surround sound and an immersive environment. Get some great headphones or a man cave, and crank it up. The creaking metal really sets an unnerving tone.

But if you watch it in an open room on a 40" TV, it's not gonna be that great. It's a very sound-y movie IMO. Not good with words, I am not good. With words.

Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soliders

need to think about #3.

There's parts of The Thin Red Line that I love and parts that I don't really care for at all. It gets to be too philosophical at points which I don't like about a war movie. But I love everthing about Nick Nolte's character in the movie.

Real War, Fake War, it's all good.

My 3 favorites are

1. Saving Private Ryan
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. Glory

I genuinely don't understand the Apocalypse Now love. After the Parris island scenes, the Vietnam war half is straight garbage. It's a great military movie, terrible war movie.

You’re thinking of Full Metal Jacket, and the war half is not garbage

May I share this thought with the War Room?

I feel like they need to hear it.

Oh yeah that one. Garbage second half of the movie.

Apocalypse Now is an even sillier movie with like zero actual war fighting.

Both of those movies are actually the top 2 of my list of shit Vietnam movies. I can't think of two more over hyped movies.

Thank God someone finally agrees with me about Apocalypse Now.
