I don't think anyone have heard of it but 3 days ago, 8 Suicide bombers most likely Isis blew theirselves for the first time inside a church in a christian town In lebanon killing 5 and injured about 30
People probably think it is normal but Really it isn't . Lebanon is the only country in the middle east who have a christian President and the most open minded country in the middle east (Called the paris of the middle east) .
Lebanon is in fact the only country left in the middle east who holds christians from different countries including iraq and syria who fled their countries from Isis .

The good news is that Isis could have killed waay more innocent civilians if people weren't armed there and shot most of the suicide bombers before they came close.

What made me write this thread is the fact that about 1 or 2 days after this tragedy, some suicide bombers bombed Istanbul Airport or 'Turkey' Airport which is known for funding Isis (I'm not hating on turkish civilians who died because people are people and they deserve to live peacefully) But the fact that this attack drew alot of people over the world to condemn it but lebanon on the other hand Nobody have hear of it which made me sad.
I just wanted to let people hear (here at least) of this and make them Pray for Lebanon in this difficult time .
Peace guys and Sorry for my bad english .

Yeah I had heard about it. Most of the Isis attacks in Lebanon are related to a small amount of Isis and Al Nusra fighters hiding out in the Eastern dead land's near Arsal. You'll remember that in 2014 the Lebanese military and Hezbollah repelled a joint offensive by the two groups on Arsal city, they retreated to a rural area near the Syrian border and are causing trouble in the rest of Lebanon by directing attacks occasionally. The good news is that they have almost been wiped out in the latest round of attacks by the military.

I'd heard about it..
It still amazes me the sheer quantity of major violent attacks carried out by islamist groups in the world today.

Aren't the Maronites one of the most extreme forms of Christianity in the world? Almost as radically fundamentalist as Islam itself?

And the whole reason for Lebanon existing on the map.

When Europe carved up the Middle East post WWI France carved out Syria and then carved Lebanon out of Syria SPECIFICALLY because of the Maronite Christian population.

Why was that exactly? Was it sort of similar to the way Israel came about? And am I correct in that they are very fundamentalist sort of Eastern Orthodox? Or is that not correct?

I think it was similar. I'm not sure of the WHY but I remember the documentary "Blood and Oil" that covers Middle Eastern history from the beginnings of WWI to about the time King Hussein died of cancer mentioned it but never really said why.

Not extremists But they aren't like other middle easterm christians. They do not run and hide they fight back .

It's a shame Lebanon is now getting dragged into this

I feel less bad for Turkey since they must have known funding Isis would backfire

Lebanon was a part of Syria until french declared it as two countries and it got it independence in 1943
They are catholics anyway they followed St Maron that is why they call us Maronites

I feel bad for Lebanon because the country went from being FUCKING AMAZING in the 60s or so to being the battlefield of choice between Israel and the PLO and never recovered as everytime they START to recover some more shit like this happens and half a city gets levelled.

My dad was on merchant ships in that area in the late 70s and he remembers going through the area near Beirut and how modern it looked... 1 month later he said it looked like a set for a WWII flick.

yeah I know people that were there before the war, they all say good things.

and the people I've met from Lebanon seem cool

hopefully they can stay out of all this

They will stay out of the fighting but much like the Dutch in WWII the fighting will land on their front doorstep.

So 8 Muslims blew themselves up to kill 5 people. On the positive side that's a terrible kill ratio, the terrorists wasted their lives for nothing.

And they are trying to attack other christians cities too but they are failing miserably
Yesterday they caught 5 senior isis members ploting to take christian hostages and blowing them in a church

I read about the bombing in Lebanon , and read some responses to it on a Lebanese forum I've been visiting for many years now. I visit various ethnic forums to get an idea of what people are talking about.

Yeah you are right that the Lebanese bombing got nary a mention but the Turkish bombings got lots of press.

I saw an Editorial cartoon recently about how the Turkish bombings were being neglected relative to the Paris bombings ; just ironic in light of the almost total lack of interest paid to the Lebanon bombings in American media. The Israeli stabbings receive far more press.

They will go to Lebanon, and blow up christian church, claim credit for crazies shooting up Murica, and Francais, yet wont try anything to Israel.
