And here we are, fight fans, not fanboys of fighter A or B.

The future looks grim.

How long until the UFC strips Jones of his belt?

Jones has already made it clear in his Bob's world that he doesn't need to and will refuse to face Aspinall.

Dana said, laughing and happy, that JJ will disappear for now and has no idea when the (unsuccessful) negotiations with him will begin.

In a year Aspinall could make 3 defenses, but he could spend 2025 on the couch waiting.

How can someone who claims to enjoy watching fights agree with something like this and find it interesting?

How long do you think?

Aspinall is essentially stuck in limbo, waiting for Jones to either fight him or vacate the title.

If the UFC doesn’t push for the undisputed fight soon, Aspinall might end up wasting valuable time in his prime, unable to build his legacy or defend his status as champion.

It’s a tough situation for a fighter who clearly wants to stay active. The longer Jones delays, the more frustrating it becomes for Aspinall and the heavyweight division as a whole.

In my opinion, a contract should be signed in 3 months with a fight for a maximum of 6 months. And with a reserve fighter.

I don't know... it reminds me of when GSP fought for MW belt. Of course there wasn't that long of a lead up, but Jones did give us 2 HW fights rather than 1. When GSP was MW champ, UFC wanted him to fight interim champ Whittaker. After the negotiations fell, we had Whittaker and Izzy reigns, MW was in a cool position.

I think HW will be great if the Jones/Aspinall fight falls through. No different than when Whittaker became champ, the MW division started a new direction.
