They cry about contracts the fighters sign that are their dreams come true and then compare it to slavery.
What they don’t understand is that once you start the precedent of overpaying then it starts a slippery slope which leads to fighters fighting once every 2yrs then the company going bankrupt.

Does it feel more popular and mainstream now than it was in say 2016? I think theres been a relative lack of buzz for a few years now. The biggest star they have who actually fights somewhat regularly is probably Poatan, and he is no Conor or Brock. Maybe its growing in some previously untapped markets? I dunno. I think it peaked in popularity in the US like 15 years ago tbh and thats the no1 market.

They make shit tons of money now but I think a lot of it is probably due to stuff like high ticket and PPV prices, having shit tons of cards, getting paid a flat fee for content by ESPN etc etc plus cost saving measures like the Apex and filling cards with DWCS guys.

Also like him or not President Trump is very popular and he's brought a ton of attention to the UFC for demographics that may not have watched the ufc prior to the last couple years.

I'm really not seeing it tbh. Everyone I know who watches MMA was already watching it in the Conor days, a fair few already watched in the TUF era. In 2016 they did like 5 different PPVs that broke a million buys, if they've had a single one do that in the last 3+ years they havent publicized it, meaning even UFC 200 probably didnt manage to. The average Joe has no clue who Poatan, Islam, O'Malley, DDP etc are. Remember when bars used to fill up for cards too?

I think its a similar situation to the WWE, where they've found a bunch of revenue streams and are making more money than they did in the Attitude Era even though its much less pop culture relevant than it used to be.
