LeFraud is the most hated athlete in sports. Jordan is the most universally loved with Kobe #2.

there isn’t even an argument against that fact. Kobe was like a god in China

People bitching about the laker ft disparity, it’s because they don’t play any defense and as a result don’t foul anyone. Lakers didn’t even lead the league in ft attempts last year. The disparity is because they don’t foul anyone on the other end. Also they were 2nd in points in the paint last year. When you shoot more in the paint and don’t play physical defense, there ends up being a ft disparity.

love or hate Stephen a smith, sports talk benefits from him. Have you tried listening to other sports analysts? Skip bayless has fallen off a cliff without Shannon sharpe. There’s some talented guys like Pat macafee, Colin cowherd and Dan Patrick but they kind of need to be given their own spotlight so they can monologue and do their own thing. Stephen a smith actually debates and brings the lulz

An NBA scorekeeper from the ’90s who gave stats to Jordan even when he didn’t earn them went into the Chicago Bulls room after one game and said, “See MJ, we take care of you.”

Scottie Pippen, who won six NBA titles with Jordan, wrote about it in his book, “Unguarded.”

“Michael was better at getting people to do whatever he wanted,” Pippen wrote. “I saw it over and over, from the first training camp in 1987 to the last victory rally in 1998. Here’s how it worked: Say I deflected the ball and tapped it over to him. I should get credit with the steal, right? Nope. More often than not, the steal went into his column on the stat sheet, and I could do nothing about it.

“One night, a scorekeeper came into the locker room after the game to hand the stat sheets to Phil Jackson and the coaching staff. The sheet breaks down the points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots, turnovers, and so on for everyone who played the game. I couldn’t believe the look the guy gave Michael: ‘See MJ, we take care of you.’ No wonder in the nine full seasons we played together, he averaged more steals than me in every year except two.”

lmao. the goat stat padder.

I stopped listening to anyone from national media really. almost stopped even listening to local media as well. they all are trying to be Skip and Stephen clones these days.

the people crying about laker ft disparity don't actually watch the game. they just look at the box scores to see the fta's.

"They didn't even lead the league in free throw attempts last year."
"Yeah man. They just look at the box scores to see the free throw attempts."

Just for laughs. Free throw attempts:

2023-24: #2 - Lakers
2022-23: #1 - Lakers

Lmao at "they don't foul."

Interesting.

But I think the league figured something out.... not calling fouls is a better way of doing the friendly-rigged than calling fouls.

They are trying to salvage their product. They hear fan rumblings constantly about the league being "soft", "no defense", "just a 3-point shooting contest", etc. So what they decide is to let them play in the Yoffs when everyone is watching, call less fouls. The problem is they don't appear to know what to call and what not to call, so you end up with a different set of rules for each set of refs, which in turn makes fans incredulous at how bad the ref'ing is.

Cliffs: The NBA is a poorly run business right now.

Kind of has always been that way. I love the sport of basketball but I hate the NBA; it's a very dubious league for sure.

In the past, the rigging was obvious in that Lakers-Kings kind of way of putting people in foul trouble and players on the FT line. That's pretty sketchy as it really shows up in the box score - it's much better to just put away the whistle at times so that it's not so evident that players are sitting on the sidelines because the refs put them there. Instead, they just let players molest and foul their desired targets.

Celtics, former Celtics, and Celtics fans talking mad shit about the Lakers. I don't even like the Lakers but would love to see a Lakers/Celtics Finals where the Lakers crush the Celtic's windpipe.

Just read the article and reactions to the inflated numbers

Instead of just wanting people to go over and accurately reflect the statistics, people are immediately trying to discredit LeBron or say it doesn't matter for Jordan

These people (some are in this thread) are so mentally ill/brain rotted they don't even care about objectivity. Basketball is officially a worse sport than F1

This morning I heard the following: "Organizations are going to follow the Celtics' formula and try to build teams where everyone can play defense."

{<jordan}

Boston won the chip by playing basic defense and shooting 33.8% from three. Lmao. The '92 Timberwolves would run the table right now.
