Dallas is resurrecting Lob City. 18 dunks tonight, franchise record and they said most dunks by any team in like 20 years.

A sample.

This should be the new team identity lol.

Just keep DJJ, Lively, Gafford and Kyrie on the floor at all times, alley oops and Luka / Kyrie drives only - mix in some improvements in defensive schemes - and in the legendary words of the late Carl Weathers, "baby you got a stew goin".

(I know nothing about basketball, just saiyan lol)..

Its the first time in a long time the Mavs haven't been dependent on making twenty 3's or losing. They had 60 paint points against the Nuggets and then had something like 50 against the Spurs.

It's such a small sample size, so it's all pie in the sky at this stage.

But I kind of feel like the shot from Kyrie, and Gafford stepping up in a big way has added to the team chemistry. With these guys stepping up, Luka can spend less time dominating possession so much and get this offense truly flowing. If they can keep moving in this direction the offense can be absolute fireworks.

I'm the biggest Luka fan out there, but have been starting to agree with some of the criticisms on his ball dominance (Charles Barkley). According to the stats, he's been the most ball dominant player in nba history.

P.s. damn DJJ got some hops!

Luka just needs the right pieces around him, Jordan won 6 Ships while having the highest usage rate in the league. It can be done. In terms of Gaff, the fact we can rotate him with a 7'1" rookie Center that appears quite talented helps a lot. DLive/Gaff is a menace of a duo to rotate for 48 minutes. Blocked shots and attempted blocked shots all night with those two and they both shoot at a high percentage. Against the Spurs Gaff had 24 on 10/11 shooting and it doesn't appear to be an outlier as he hit 33 consecutive before that.

I agree, he's needed the right pieces. But there have been the fair share of games where he hasn't let his team mates get in any sort of rythum.. even not setting up Kyrie as much as he should have. It's a bad habit to get into.

That said Luka is my favourite player, just critical of him as I want to see him do as well as possible.

its 2024, there is almost no chance of a usage % like that winning shit with a guard

I don't agree but there is no need to argue it.

I would suspect Luka's usage will dip somewhat. Its always high but it has been extra high this season due to a massive number of injuries and missed games by most of the roster. At one point Luka was the only starter on the court then when he started missing games all 5 starters were out.

EDIT: And BTW, can we acknowledge that Kyrie is having an absurd season statistically, something most in the media have failed to give a shit about. Despite Luka's high usage rate, Kyrie is averaging 25/5/5 on near 50/40/90.

Lmao at you can't win with a high usage guard.

By adding more pieces lucucks usage will go down though, which still makes the mavs better.

Also agreed on Kyrie this year, still hilarious that he wasn’t voted in the top 75 cuz he’s a nut job.

Learn to read, dipshit

Urry (no clutch) also doesn't play defense

Luka does in the yoffs

Jordan had a 36% usage in his career(have to edit in the finals because you're retarded and you still might miss this), 6% more than Urry

tbf I don’t think you can win with a usage % like that with any position. The top 5 usage players in the last 5 seasons have 0 championships. It’s flooded with seasons by lucuck, embiid, harden, booker t, Beal, illard(no d), Warrant and VaGiannis.

I think you can with Jokic or Giannis. But that's because the floor is so spread out. I think if you're an elite big man it's possible. With a guard? I sincerely doubt it.

Guess we're just gonna have to find out. ANT will probably win with a 48% usage when the Wolves win the finals this year.

Even jokic wasn’t top 10 last year, but the Dino nugs are pretty deep and he’s perfectly fine playing off the ball. The fact that he still puts up so many numbers with less usage is even more impressive tbh. I think the only top 10 usage player to win a ring in the last 5 years was vagiannis at 8 lol.

Ant without game changer KAT won’t have anything for HolmGOAT and SGA

Yeah, if the team is clicking Jokic's usage is down more. Giannis I guess isn't really in here because Doc's their head coach lmao

"Learn to read" and then adds more qualifiers.

MJ's usage rate in the playoffs in 1991 was 32.7. His usage rate in 96 was 32.9.

Curry's usage rate in the 2022 playoffs was 31.8.

"Guards can't win with MJ's usage rate."
