Pacers bombing 3s, looks like this one is over. Safe to switch over to Warrios and Nuggies. I think GS is due for a win in that one, especially if Mal and KCP are out.

Nuggets with a 14-0 run to tie at half time. At some point it was 25 point difference. Mostly Jokic and Murray going off. Standings are so close right now every win counts.

A Doncic to Denver video popped up in my algorithm. What says the Dallas fans here? You happy to send him for Murray and MPJ and a first?

Can’t get anything comparable for him so any trade would lead to a rebuild. I’m just cherishing his days as a Mav at this point. If they don’t win or contend soon, I can see him leaving.

I feel quite confident it won't happen (him to Denver), and not too likely that he lives any time. Maybe does a Giannis and makes some demands, but will get his way.

Denver isn't going to mess with their current chemistry unless they make an embarrassing exit in the playoffs this year. Like first round and they look horrible. Hard to picture either, and especially the latter.

But Jokic and Doncic together I think makes more sense from a chemistry standpoint than what I've heard pundits suggest. People say Doncic is ball dominant, and he is, but so what. Jokic unlike all the other MVP contenders isn't a league leader in usage and while he gets a shitload of touches, isn't a guy that has to hold onto the ball long. You could also to an extent stagger them so you don't have to worry about the "Non-Luka" or "Non-Jokic" minutes. I think they'd potentially be devastating on the same team, more so than Giannis-Dame and Embiid-Maxey etc

I’m guessing because the Celtics have the best league record but who knows? He’s an idiot regardless

That's what he'll "say", but I 100% don't believe he truly thinks Tatum is deserving of the MVP. Just that everyone ahead (Luka, Giannis, Yoke, SGA) are players on less popular teams.

Pure viewership fan service.

P.S. How much should someone even weigh having the best record if you play in a clearly worse conference in a league with an unbalanced schedule between conferences? They apparently have the second or third softest schedule left, but yeah, of course because it's against the bum teams in the east they've already had more games against than western teams. Detroit/Charlotte/Atlanta/Washington. Playin and lottery positioned teams in the east have 128 wins, West has about 25% more wins.

BTW, Luka's odds have tightened quite a bit!

Dummy Stephen Gae Smith says Tatum is #1 on his MVP ladder. Wonder what shitty algorithm tells him that's what he's supposed to say.

LMAO.

I just don't get how picking up Porzingus who turns out to be an incredible fit and Jrue Holiday and the team then having more success because of roster changes... Adds to Tatum's personal resume for MVP this year.

Can someone else tell me how roster changes that improve team success can catapult someone who's worse in almost every metric ahead of Jokic, Luka, etc.

27/8/5 on 60% TS is good but that's not MVP quality in 2024.

34/9/9.5 on 62% TS is better. We are talking about 7ppg on better efficiency with an extra 4.5 apg tacked on.

It obviously doesn't, but these pundits are just going off marketing.

When New York Knicks go on a big run, they will mention Brunson for MVP.
When Cleveland Cavs go on a big run, they won't say a peep about Mitchell for MVP.
Sabonis, who is closest to Tatum on modelled MVP probabilities can't even find his way onto an all star game (the only person here on this list who didn't) https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/mvp.html

Now that SGA on merit is someone in the running for MVP is from a small market team, they won't bring out of the closet all the crap they did for Embiid last year like the VOTERS ARE RACIST because pundits don't want to spend calories pumping the tires of players that have few fans.
Similarly, notice the stuff they were saying last year about "stat padding" or "needing to do it in the playoffs" was never brought out as a reason to why Embiid shouldn't be able to repeat as MVP. It seems interpretations of what constitutes stat padding (apparently getting triple doubles is stat padding, but scoring 70 points on one of the shittiest teams in the league isn't), and who needs to "do it in the playoffs" isn't very consistently defined nor applied.
