Can someone explain this, though, from Cleveland's perspective. They're a mere 2.5 games back from the Rays for best record in the AL. Why would they give up one of their top SPs?

Cleveland wants to win now and build for the future at the same time. Clevinger is gonna be arbitration eligible, had a lot of heat for breaking the Covid 19 protocols and lying about it. They can bring Zach Plesac back up.

We didnt trade away any of our “top prospects”. Trammell is the only one that sucks to see leave (I rather like Ty France too), but I’m thinking the team just didn’t like his progression. Reds seemed to trade him away without a lot of hesitation as well.

Also, this move makes way more sense now in hindsight since we moved Hedges as well.
