I think that’s a matter of having the White House for eight years. Now, with the GOP in the WH, you are seeing new names enter Washington and some of these people at least build name recognition with this primary.

Let me make my point clear.

Who was the last person they gave a chance at offering a rebuttal to Trumps address?

Surely you would pick someone who you’re trying to boost the national recognition of, right? I mean, you have a roster full of nobodies.

So who did they pick?

A literal loser, Stacy abrams. Either the decisions are being made by political neophytes, or there’s a reason they want the nobodies to stay nobodies.

As an Ohioan, I hate it. We aren’t in play currently though. It’s a red state. Look at our state legislature.

I hope you're right, but...
In fairness, state/local isn't a national election and we have not been strong red from that standpoint, more like purple there.

I could agree with that but I also think those counter addresses haven’t really proven to be benefitical or not for a politician. I think you get bame recognition usually from being the counter voice to the establishment in the White House. When Obama was in power, you heard a lot less about Warren, Sanders, etc in the news and far more Cruz, Rubio, Paul, etc. Now it’s been turned around. I do find it odd they have some faces they want to build but the problem is the state they reside in (Beto/Castro- Texas, Abrams-Georgia) but I will wait out a bit longer to see how those all play out.

That’s a fair point. Although I do believe state wide races are a pretty good indication. The clean sweep of those offices in 2018, coupled with Trump winning by 8 points in 2016, leads me (and many others) to believe we are no longer in play.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but I would be shocked if Trump didn’t win Ohio in 2020. I say that as someone who wants him to lose, too.

Imo they only stand a chance with Biden and I think they know that. Forget about Bernie, he will never be elected president. He will scare more people than attract.

Normally I’d agree, but when you’re less than two years from an election, and your roster is full of literal nobodies, the people making those decisions either have a reason to do that, or they shouldn’t be the ones making the decisions.

I think it's going to be a three-way race between Harris, O'Rourke and Sanders. I think Biden will fade fast and Warren won't pick up steam. Most likely winner is Sanders, I think.

Elizabeth Warren wants to break up Google, Amazon, and Facebook

Yep. She's finished.

Still can't believe they didn't use Beto.

Yep. She's finished.

I don’t think this specifically finished her but I do think she isn’t going to get far in this primary. She just doesn’t seem to be a good candidate in terms of campaigning. I think she’s much better off just focusing on her senate seat. Brown made the right call.

Well first off, the whole Native-American fiasco severely damaged things.

But now her planning to go after Google, Amazon, and Facebook?

It's not going to help her at all to antagonize those Corporate Technological Giants.

No controversial Creepy Joe or Trump like videos for Bernie- just pure consistency:

Still can't believe they didn't use Beto.

Beto is overrated. Dude thinks he's a Kennedy when most of his fundraising came from hate of his opponent rather than love of him.

Do you think it's more likely he (a) changed his mind (b) merely changed his tune? I say (b). I write this as someone who agrees with his old way of framing the matter. I've noticed he has been making overtures to the "African American community" recently, and I'm thinking it's an attempt to "atone" for those past "mistakes".
His behavior towards Anita Hill, the crime bill, his comments about reparations, busing were all decades ago so yes he could have changed hit tune. Older African Americans are willing to forgive his past comments and actions, his real problem could be with younger African Americans.

Per the Biden stuff.

"Weinstein level stuff"

He is not their best chance if there's like 4 or 5 of these, he is royally fucked. Sounds like they'd be hundreds.

Democrats will need to push the reasons why the system we been working on has led to multiple bank failures and bailouts. Even if you don't believe in Green New Deal at least believe in the idea that we can create a new economy without plowing trillions into Wall Street and expect it to trickle down to people.

Sanders, a progressive populist who held a rally in Iowa as the poll was being conducted last week, gained 6 percentage points from 19 percent in the group's previous poll released in December. Biden fell 5 percentage points from 32 percent in the last poll.

Oh that article is hilarious. The meat of the story is about Bernie surging 6 points in Iowa, and Biden dropping 5 points, but if you don't sift through their bullshit, you would never know that.

I think the majority of the people would read that article, and think it is good news for Biden.

Fake news.

Real news is that Bernie is already surging.

Why would you believe something blatantly untrue?

A lot of these online Bernard Sanders supporters appear to have a screw loose.

I just watched a CNN breakdown of the new Iowa polling. I found the coverage to be fair and balanced. I don't like any of the candidates so I have no dog in the race.

Then I see the top comment:

The establishment has already started trying to sabotage Bernie Sanders again. Wow. Did the Democrats learn nothing from 2016?

I guess these people are angry that the CNN analysts pointed out that Biden and Sanders are benefitting from near-100% name recognition, while candidates like Harris and O'Rourke might expect to poll higher after they get their names out there. It's a completely fair point, but not if you're a paranoid Sanders supporter.
