***2019 CFB Discussion v 2.0 - LSU vs. Crimson Turd

There still a lot of football to be played before a clear picture comes into focus. I think the only team that is a sure shot to finish the year undefeated is Clemson. I might be wrong, but Georgia could beat LSU if they catch them asleep at the wheel. Same with Ohio State if Penn State comes to play. Both unlikely, but not out of the realm of possibility. I’m feeling a Wisconsin upset of Minnesota as well.

So I wouldn’t exactly count Alabama out of the play offs yet. Although I am going to enjoy their loss today immensely.

How do folks feel about Utah if they win out and beat Oregon? Schedule too weak?

Utah’s schedule is too weak for the top 4 but then again, you could say the same thing about Bama or Clemson.

What could really work in Utah’s favor is if the committee gives them a break for the U$C loss since Utah’s Star RB Zach Moss was out hurt for that match.

Bama has played one good team this year and lost. Even Minnesota has a better resume than they do.

There are two undefeated teams with a top 10 win:

1) LSU
2) Minnesota

Minnesota loses to Wisconsin, maybe even Iowa

Burrow just hit God-tier status in Baton Rouge.

If both Oregon and Utah are 11-1 going into the P12CG then the Utes have a good shot at making it in. Their loss to USC is about the same as OU's loss to K St.

Gotta find that balance between best and most deserving.

1. LSU
2. Ohio St
3. Clemson

I guess Georgia at #4 for now. Won't matter after they lose next week though.

ALABAMA
notable wins: @ 6-3 Texas A&M by 19
loss: #2 LSU by 5
notable games remaining: @ #11 Auburn
extra: I think they're SOL unless both B12 and P12 champs have 2 losses

GEORGIA
notable wins: vs #10 Florida by 7; #15 Notre Dame by 6
loss: 4-6 South Carolina by 3 (with a WR playing QB for the Cocks)
notable games remaining: @ #11 Auburn; vs #2 LSU in the SECCG
extra: loss is looking REALLY bad; struggled with Kentucky

OKLAHOMA
notable wins: vs Texas (6-3) by 7
loss: @ #16 Kansas State by 7
notable games remaining: @ #12 Baylor; vs Baylor/Texas in the B12CG
extra: dominated 7-8 of their wins

OREGON
notable wins: uh...
loss: vs #11 Auburn by 6 in Jerry World
notable games remaining: vs #8 Utah in the P12CG
extra: all wins are over teams with at least 4 losses; struggled to beat Stanford, Cal, Udub, and Wazzou

PENN ST
notable wins: #14 Michigan by 7; @ #18 Iowa by 5; 6-3 Pitt by 7
loss: @ #17 Minnesota by 5
notable games remaining: 7-2 Indiana; @ #1 Ohio State

Not a bad break down. From what you wrote I’d say Oklahoma will be the most deserving if they win out. Everyone but Bama and Oklahoma is probably gonna catch an L before the end.

If Auburn can somehow beat Georgia and Bama they'd have as good of a case as anybody

Their SOS is brutal but a 2 loss team who doesn't win their conference has no business being in it.

Batrunken that the committee has Oregon and Utah ahead of Minnesota. Minnesota has a top 10 win and they’re undefeated. Oregon and Utah have a loss and 0 top 25 wins

I don't see how a second SEC team gets in.

Jawja is the only one that has an argument and they won't get in if they get a second loss by losing in the SECCG to LSU. If they beat LSU then they are absolutely in but then how does LSU get in after losing in the SEC CG?

Assuming LSU goes in to the SECCG undefeated they can lose to Georgia and still get in because of their sos. They've beat 4 Top 10 teams this season which were @ Texas, @ Alabama, Auburn at home and Florida at home.

Not really sure how Georgia/Oregon are ahead of Minnesota.

How did Oklahoma drop even further after a win? And Penn is ahead of them?! Unreal

Agreed that LSU will easily be in if their only loss is in the SEC title. That being said, I can’t stand when people use the ranking at the time of the game as a “top 10 win.”

Texas was incorrectly ranked in the top 10 early on due to a skewed preseason ranking. They are nowhere near 1 of the 10 best teams in the land.

Does it spook anyone else out that 3-7 all have massively flawed resumes?

#3 Clemson: 0 top 25 wins
#4 Georgia: loss to 4-6 SoCar
#5: Bama: 0 top 25 wins
#6 Oregon: 0 top 25 wins
#7 Utah: 0 top 25 wins

I can’t recall this ever being the case 2 1/2 months into the season.

I know Minnesota doesn’t have those eye-popping 4/5-star athletes but if they notch a 2nd top 25 win this Saturday in a very tough venue, then I bring them up to #3...even though I do not see them hanging with Clemson, Bama, or Georgia. What you do on the field has to matter though.

Bama's best win is a loss where they were never leading in the game.
Their potential best win would be over a four-loss Auburn, if Auburn loses to Georgia this weekend.
