Elections 2018 Midterms: Polls, predictions and results.

It's hard to know, really.

What are dems and libs gonna do if they don't take the Senate?

But seriously, that is one thing that has been really baffling me about support for Trump. Every economic principle, whether it's your household or your whole country, says reduce spending and save (or pay down debt) when times are good, only go further into debt if it can't be avoided, i.e. when times are tough. Yet Trump has lowered income and increased debt during an economic boom. When the inevitable recession comes it will hurt all that much more than it should have.

At the same time, although everything is going well, he's applied sanctions to allies. He picked them because they sound good, not because they are sound economics. On the other hand, the countries that are fighting back against these sanctions are choosing them with great care for maximum impact on the US and minimal impact on their own economies. How can any of his supporters possibly consider this to be a good thing? He is forcing his closest allies to look elsewhere for trade partners so that when things take a downturn, they will be less dependent upon the US and thereby less help in dealing with the consequences.

And then there's this, just out today,
Trump's attacks on central bank rate hikes risk creating future economic trouble: Don Pittis

So yeah, tl;dr you have to be an idiot to believe Trump knows what he is doing when it comes to the economy.

Agreed especially on both trade and central bank independence.

But there is a an economic theory that basically says the fed has been two conservative and we should be less worried about inflationary impacts because the capacity constraint is lower in this economy and things like stimulus and tax cuts will result in long term productivity enhancing improvements to the economy.

Personally I thinks it’s a stretch when you consider the debt incurred for the benefits obtained and how much further the debt would go in the next downturn. But it’s a theory.....

I hope Trump and republicans rig the elections so that more seats that would not be republican turn out republican.

I hope also that Israel or saudi arabia is involved in doing this.

So you fucks can no what it feels like to have your elections actually meddled in lol at you idiots blaming Russian facebook bots done by some lone individuals and if that really does influence fat fook americans who are on the fence between the hideous creature that was president before Trump or Trump then lol. Also republicans make america great again!

forecast - both sides will claim a massive victory and how that result is a clear sign the american people want....(insert generic bs here)

as an outsider these elections are important on foreign policy.

Trump is good for israel, saudi arabia, russia, and right wing states throughout europe, hungary, poland, italy, etc. And good for brazil and argentina and colombia. Trump is good for multipolarity of world. If Trump is impeached if the old obama agenda still goes through the multipolarity continues which is good. But the new foreign policy direction of at least the senate under Dems i assume would be one that wants to distance itself from saudi, from right wing EU states, and probably empower merkel and macron. And one that tries to distance or isolate Bolsonaro in brazil. I assume under Dems Israel would still fare well but that less supportive of Israel.

Morally from a religious and nationalist view Trump and republicans seem better choice along with national security view. But there also is increased chance of conflict with Iran maybe.

Insane voting numbers! Hard to predict the overall results, but at least people are voting!
Yeah these early voting numbers are surprising. It seems great for Democrats, on the surface. Cautious optimism for the blue wave being strong.

No chance. As long as Trump is in the WH I will vote democrat.
Seems highly irrational to me, but it's your vote.

CO 6 is definitely an interesting district this time around. No strong opinion on it from me. I will probably dig into it in the next couple days.

I think allowing DJT to run amok with a gop majority in congress is irrational. However, it's easy for me to take an absolutist position right now since I actually like the candidate I am voting for, so, luckily, I don't really have to dwell on the rationale.
