It was a slam dunk no matter who was president. They only had 7 seats to lose compared to the democrats 26. Simple math

what the hell is going on in georgia .. 100% precincts reported yet somehow they still have votes they're counting .. now down to 64k and kemp at 50.3 .. almost like they're trying to get him under 50 'somehow' .. to force the runoff .. dude had a 220k lead with like 93% reporting

I should probably be clear that there are certainly particulars that are good for the GOP. They have a majority if Trump gets to choose a new justice (I like Barrett A LOT), and obviously they held off dems taking out really essential leadership.
So, to clarify my original statement, as overarching narrative and within the reasonable expectation of what these midterms would offer both the Dems and the GOP, the Democratic party, in my mind, won by KO. It's less to do with the house, and more to do with the way they've somehow not shot themselves in the foot with the general frustrations with Trump outside of his base.
No one needs crocodile tears, but the shift toward the blue is, considering what was at stake, is so very positive for the dems.

as for my personal feelings about politics: very little of this is good

9 billion dollars of Hollywood money on the line. Oprah threw out that line an put a scare into business leaders. It turns out tons of Hollywood productions happen in Georgia. They claim it could cost Georgia 9 billion plus in lost revenue. Not saying that's the reason but it's something to think about.

from people who lost and have no influence now? it seems his base is loving it. To win in 2020 he would need the same showing and then to just add some more people. Not impossible. Id imagine a push in suburbs and trying to get more latino voters will make the difference or not. The media is obviously trys to paint are people of hispanic or latin background as some united bunch but it is not true.

It's not just the ones that didn't get re-elected. He's sacked so many people and his leadership style with his temper tantrums and demagoguing is very off putting for many. I'm sure a few of Republicans, especially the more libertarian and fiscally responsible ones, don't like him and think he's bad for the country in the long run. Just can't imagine otherwise. He'll also throw anyone under the bus, there's no loyalty there at all.

the x factor is right wing media. Fox news and all the other outlets. Im not american but from what ive observed they are at his feet and its now his party. That is both good and bad. It seems good in that like 38 to 40% or close to it of population or whatever wont leave his side as long as he sticks to his rhetoric and nationalist type agenda. But his behavior is also bad because yeah libertarians and moderates who probably didnt vote trump last time wont or may find it hard to vote for trump in 2020 meaning many may not vote for him again. Then again if he shifts the stakes may be to high for those who didnt vote for him last time but were on fence to not vote for him. If democrats have a shift more left i could see many people who dont like him personally but are libertarian or republican simply voting for him in order to avert a ´far left´backlash.

He also has the advantage of all his issues, and dirty behavior being so open. If you didnt vote for him in 2016 because you were on the fence and hated his controversey and image. Well what stop you in 2020? everything about him is known. You know what you are getting.

In all though my prediction is Americans wont go ´socialist´until the late 2020s. I think Trump wins 2020. And if that happens id imagine they could do well in 2024 and win. But from the little i have read the demographic chances by elections after 2024 will put the republican party down unless they convert more latinos to their party by appealing to the social conservatvism of many catholic latinos and ease up on rhetoric that is possibly racially charged against them. The white conserative population and growth and birthrate is higher than white liberals by far but the liberals have the advantage of black voting block and a good chunk of hispanics and many asians.
