2016 Rio Olympics Discussion Thread V2: PED edition - U.S. Dominance

Brazil's Water polo team has never finished high than 8th place (in 1920 lol) and have failed to qualify for the Olympics since 1984. They're now in a good position to medal this Olympics as Hungary got knocked out by arguably weaker team in Montenegro. Hope they beat Croatia today. Would be a first for a south american team.

Are you familiar with how track works and the rules pertaining to the finish line?

Page 5 has an illustration of how "torso" is defined.
What does the rule book have anything to do with it? Lay n pray, wall n stall are legal. So are oblique kicks. Hell, it just became illegal to extend your fingers outward. Rule books don't govern how people should think about everything. Diving for the finish is weak as fuck.

Biles Da GaWd

Raisman had a cleaner run than Biles on the floor, albeit slightly less difficult... she got jobbed on her score but still got Silver behind teh GOAT.

Swedes kicking for the win right now.

And they win 4-3 on PKs

Lol. Asshole Brazillian savage fans chanting ZIKA at Hope Solo, and now your garbage team is eliminated (still can get meaningless bronze)

lol Croatian player just straight up punched a Brazilian player in the face

Brazil was handed so many life lines by the refs in this game and they blew it lol

Couldn't even score one goal while Croatia had to play a man down for 4 whole minutes

Brazil women top team about to be upset in beach volleyball by Germany

BuCANan really living up to her name on both goals against for the Canadian women's soccer team

During a broadcast, I heard that Bolt has a central nervous system of a guy that is 5'8. Can anyone explain that for me?

The USA looks like a Lonely Superpower at the top of the Medal Table , 83 as of this post to include the most Gold at 28, China is second overall with 48 Medals.

I'm proud that our country has the best Masking Agents <cheer>;) whooo hooo

That second set was amazing. Brazil were crushed.

I just watched the 98kg greco roman final. The Armenian dude who won looked like TJ Dillashaw. Like really.

Still, Olympians who prepared 4 years for a 50 seconds event might prefer to focus on winning gold fair and square rather than aiming for non existant style points.

The Egyptian judoka that wouldn't shake hands got sent home by his own Olympic committee
The International Olympic Committee says it was the EOC's decision to yank El Shehaby from the games ... though the IOC issued a statement of its own, condemning his actions.

"[His behavior] was contrary to the rules of fair play and against the spirit of friendship embodied in the Olympic values."

Looks like Team Sky shared their nano-technology with Team Britain in this Olympics.
@therealdope

Before Team Sky were making their marginal gains, Dave Brailsford was making marginal gains with British cycling.

The three most successful British Olympians are now track cyclists (if you include Wiggins). Not bad for a programme that didn't really start in earnest until 2001
