Obviously there will be other topics on this the next few months. This thread will serve to merge blog/ war wagon/ opinion threads and spare some stuff from the dump. Broad discussion of election encouraged. Same rules apply. Don't flame. Don't be racist. Don't encourage genocide.

Throw out some poll ideas and I will add one in a bit.

Watching Jill Stein on CNN right now. Could she not have whitened her teeth for this shit? Jesus.

i'm thinking a poll about the impact of the unreleased emails from wikileaks on the clinton campaign

How many debates do you guys think will happen? It's hard to predict because you could make a case for 0-3 debates, but I'd guess 2 if I had to. 1 debate seems more likely than having all 3, and guessing between 3 or 0 is a tough call. I'd go 2, 1, 3, 0, with 2 being closer to 1 than 1 is to 3. So, 2.1..3.0

Trump gets beat up in the first debate, whines about unfair moderators asking him questions he has no clue about, and decides that he won't do another single debate unless Hannity is the moderator and there's a Muslim off stage he can glare at once in a while. So I predict 1 debate.

Penn Jillette talking about how Trump was using The Apprentice to springboard a presidential bid (first minute or two), and giving an honest assessment of him overall.

what determines a person's intellect? how, if at all, do we place people into a hierarchy of intelligence? having studied, and received training on some of these tests, i find there is a drop-off to where the majority of test batteries are useless. . . some geniuses die in squalor, picking scabs off their necks, and some not-so-smart people die with love and happiness. i don't see how penn can say bush is more intelligent than trump. if we had to put politicians in a ranking, i would say their story is not so dissimilar.

he is right though -- part of being in office is embracing phoniness (not that i don't think trump is a phony). you can't live in that life for very long without being destroyed. you have to placate to many different parties, which is why obama will always be the better politician than both of them combined, and trump will be a liability for us.

clinton is a sleaze, but i'd rather have her as president, honestly, for all of those aforementioned reasons. trump is a reality star who made his bones in the 80's. he makes us look even more retarded than we already are.

Throw out some poll ideas and I will add one in a bit.

I would like to see a poll asking how satisfied they are with the candidate they're voting for.

Dissatisfied, but it's better than the alternative.
slightly dissatisfied, there were better candidates in the primary
satisfied with concern
very satisfied - this would have been my first choice

I'm interested in how many Hillary voters are voting against Trump or disappointed they can't vote for Bernie.

Did they say they will be released in October? If they do release something, we will do a poll then. Seems like these things are going to have a new thread every 2 weeks or so.

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/middle-east-takes-note-trumps-conspiracy-theories#break

“I guarantee you nobody in Egypt really knows who Louie Gohmert is or what he’s about,” said Steven A. Cook, senior fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, explained in 2013. “So they could very well point to this and say ‘Look! He’s a member of Congress. This must be serious. There must be something to it.’”

Now, of course, there’s a related problem that takes the entire dynamic to the next level. The problem’s name is Donald Trump.

In the New York Times yesterday, there was an interesting piece from Michael Wahid Hanna, a senior fellow at the Century Foundation and at the Center on Law and Security at N.Y.U.’s School of Law, and Daniel Benaim, a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. They made the point that when the Republican presidential hopeful shares one of his many conspiracy theories – including his recent assertion that President Obama and Hillary Clinton are the original “founders” of ISIS – Americans aren’t the only folks who notice.

Public opinion has a profound impact on American interests in the Middle East and around the world. The United States’ military strategy against the Islamic State depends on mobilizing local actors to lead the fight on the ground. Imagine how much harder that is when people have been led to believe that President Obama created the group. Or think of the added danger to American troops in Iraq, where Shiite militant groups who are fighting the Islamic State remain deeply wary of the United States military.

Just this weekend, Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, publicly endorsed Mr. Trump’s remarks: “This is an American presidential candidate. This was spoken on behalf of the Republican Party. He has data and documents.”

I'm very conflicted at this point and still deciding. The fact that the race won't be close likely is going to make me okay with voting third party I guess.

oh, alright. i haven't decided if i'll vote, because laziness. i would vote clinton though.

I found out in the primaries my voting spot is literally across the street from where I live. I tend to stay home during midterms but I've voted in 08 and 12. I'd be happier if we could have 2012 candidates instead at this point. It is what it is though.

Good poll. supported sanders so disappointed, but I wouldn't necessarily say dissatisfied. I'll save that for after the election when my hopes of the platform aren't met :)
