I think a lot of it has to do with just how corrupt Clinton is. Didn't only 40% of Americans report to actually being happy with the candidates?

Happy with either candidate. You really think Trump isn't corrupt in his own business dealings, private life, etc? He just hasn't had the chance to run amuck in politics yet.

Everybody already knows his true colours and it's just unfathomable to me that the majority would elect a really in all honesty unsavoury, base, low person as their president. His attitude is clear. He even went so far as to say he will drop nukes (can't remember who he said against), which is no different than North Korea's leaders in recent years.
