Lebron, Wade and Bosh are all staying. Them all opting out lets you know that, esp Bosh. They are gonna take less $ and make a run at Lowry and a inside rim defender.

If Lowry goes to the Heat i will be rustled. Raptors are in trouble if it happens. I just hope Lowry realizes he cant get paid over there like in Toronto and this will be his 1st real big contract ever, he needs to think of his families future. Heat can only offer him 7-8mil a year, im sure Raptors will offer at least 10 for 5. F the Heat.

It's hard to imagine someone in his position needing his basketball money at this point. You figure a guy that idolizes Jordan so much would take notice of how much money Jordan made away from the game and start selling some hanes or something and take the paycut.

Jordan's last three years with the Bulls he had the highest salaries in NBA history, and that was over 15 years ago. In 1998, the Bulls paid Jordan $46 million. Of course the CBA was completely different back then.

I read his salary of 33 mill in 97-98 was the highest in NBA history.

Lol this is the first Ive seen of this Kidd nonsense. Id take him over Larry Drew as a coach but more control then that? ehhhhhh. The guy has been coaching for one year, his ego is too much.

That what I was thinking. I honestly don't remember the in's and outs of the salary/cap structure of the 90s even though that is when I followed the game the most, but it didn't seem like as big a deal as it is now.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to get paid for sure, but it just seems silly when basketball isn't your main income anymore to ask for max contracts.

I remember a few years ago some greek club mentioned paying him 40 mil per, I kinda wish that had happened. It would be interesting to see sports other than hockey with actual competition between leagues.

Rockets and TWolves talking KLove trade which would involve a S@T of Candler Parsons

It's a respect thing. Being the top paid player means something. As the late great Richard Sherman said, "It's all about respect in this game, and the only way people show respect is the dollars."

"If I wanted to be greedy, I could make a lot more money. I'm not a greedy person. But I like to get paid for what I'm worth. I like to make what I deserve."

So is the consensus here that the Heat will not pursue Melo now that all the big 3 have opted out?

If so I think the Bulls may actually have a shot at him then (Anthony that is). Tho I have heard/read that NYC can still pay him the most money.

As ridiculous as his salary is, even Kooby took a paycut.

Lol @ Bern threatening to leave unless literally everyone opted out, and took a reduced salary, so that he himself can get a raise to the absolute max.

Brontosaurus Rex deserves 3x melon by any measure

By his own admission, he was a big part of that group of scrubs. He said it himself after the Finals; "I should have done more".

Well if you should have done more and failed, then you should be making less.

BJ should have taken less money in the gsp fight

He promised fans he was willing to fight to the death

I feel cheated as a fan, to be honest

The bulls just seem like the perfect fit for him

Melo isn't interested in rebuilding. He wants a team ready to go.

We'll see. Sometimes money means a whole lot more. I would love to see it happen tho -the East is wide open imo this up coming season, and the Bulls will be right there if they land Melo and D-Rose is at least 80% of what he used to be.

Oh it would be a train wreck.

LA is still LA though, and they have money to blow.
