I agree with this. Same as with Barca; heavy park the bus teams give us trouble. Regardless of the quality of the team we are facing. Teams that have confidence and open to attack us and it gives Messi the space he needs. The bigger sides in the tournament will play Argentina in open play and shit will get real.
So far I think these two Argentina games are very misleading as to what they can accomplish (Spain in the 2010 World Cup, were 1-1 at this point, and had only scored 1 goal and were written off)

FINALLY somebody who KNOWS what Football is all about. Iran played like Algeria did against Belgium the whole match + Argentinian's coach was dumb enough to not bring in Lavezzi&Palacio earlier in the match (should have entered at half time). Both Aguero&Higuain were terrible today and it's a shame a brillant playmaker like Enzo Perez was left on the bench.

I remember Italy AND France, both being one billion times worse in 2006 on the first round and they ended up facing each other in the finals...

Argentina is still a contender for the title alongside Brazil,Germany,to a lesser extend Holland and possibly Italy if they manage to get a draw against Uruguay. France&Belgium should be lucky if they manage to make it to the 1/4.

As long as they peak during the knockout stage it's fine, but it's crazy how much they struggle against inferior teams with that team.

You are the only one who gets this sport in this thread. Argentina is the best counterattacking team in the world, so it's hard for them when teams just stay in their side of the field waiting.

"OMG NETHERLANDS WINS EVERYTHING; THEY DO A LOT OF GOALS". Yeah, but Spain and Australia both gave them trouble and they were determined in attacking them so that opens space for counterattacking. Just watch their goals again, you'll see most of them in open field, nothing like Messi's.

"NONO, FRANCE WILL STEAMROLL EVERYONE!!!". They gave them a dubious penalty at first game, then Honduras attacked them and made some troubles. The Swiss went toe-to-toe last match and it showed.

"GERMANY GERMANY GERMANY". They are the best team out there for sure, but Portugal didn't went to that match with 11 players in their field...

Let's see Argentina play against another team that wants to play as it should. Not everyone at defense.

But yeah, most of you just see the score result or the stats. Leave that for hockey, american football or basketball. That shit doesn't work here.

It's all about advancing to the next round of the competition. Then a new world cup begins and all the results of the first round will mean shit. Argentina is as crap as Italy was in 2006 so far. If Messi keeps striking like he did on the first two matches and, more important, Di Maria, Aguero&Higuain are back to their Real, City&Napoli form, they have the offensive power to maul any defense of any other team remaining there.

I have said this a thousand times. They can get away with this against lesser opponents, but against Germany or France they are getting stomp. Argentina hasn't been the same since Riquelme left. The Best Argentina since 1986 has been the Copa America one
From 2007 that lost the final to Brazil.

So games that have been played at the tournament aren't evidence of anything but club form is?
